Tonight is going to be a very restless night of sleep for Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Jeff Niemann who was re-evaluated Monday and most likely won’t have the test results until Tuesday on this most recent MRI.
An effective reliever/starter during his career, his role for 2013 was to be insurance for the rotation incase of injury or if one of their back end starters, most prominent being Roberto Hernandez, faltered.
The 30-year old has a career 4.08 earned run average in 544.1 innings, having struck out 409 batters and a won-loss record of 40-26.
Even if Niemann is able to avoid surgery, which is doubtful, he still holds no fantasy value even in the deepest of fantasy leagues.
