Baseball Hot Corner:
Jeremy Guthrie has made a deal with God when he starts against the Chicago White Sox.
He straight up OWNS the White Sox in the last 2 years. Granted I just wrote about how anemic the White Sox offense is, so them getting schooled by any pitcher isn’t news but Guthrie is on a roll against the Pale Hose.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane and remember the good old days when Guthrie was on the Orioles and the Sox knew how to hit.
2010 He faced the Sox twice with a 1-1 record. His total line for those 2 starts were as follows
14.2 IP, 16 hits, 7er, 3walks, 7k’s, 1hr with a 1-1 record
So one good, one bad, no big deal.
Let’s move on to 2011, again he faced the Sox twice and got knocked around both times, here is his combined numbers in 2 starts
14IP, 13 hits, 8er, 2walks, 6k’s, 4hr with a 0-2 record
Then God descended down from heaven and said “Jeremy, I will grant you one wish” Jeremy responded “I want to own the White Sox every time I pitch against them” God answered “It shall be do...

We considered just copy & pasting a wrap from a previous start Jeremy Guthrie had against the White Sox here. Because frankly, there's just not much to say.
The Royals defeated the White Sox 2-0 on Saturday evening thanks to Guthrie (pictured above, H/T AP) and despite a very strong effort from Sox' starter Dylan Axelrod.
After letting up two runs in the...

Omaha 2B Johnny Giavotella is running out of time. He’s been crushing AAA for his third straight season (currently .323/.391/.471). He’s had three trials in Kansas City over the last 2 seasons. He’ll turn 26 on July 10.
Johnny Giavotella still hasn’t established himself as a major league player. Instead, his repeated failure to hit in Kansas City makes him...
Adam Dunn does not appear on many lists for the worst contracts in baseball. But he should be. I spell it all out in the new issue of Big Leagues Magazine, which is free this issue. Check it out and read a whole bunch of other great stuff while you are there.
Welcome to a new feature on I70 Baseball, the Royals Power Rankings. Each week we’ll rank the top five Royals in 2013 with a heavy emphasis on their performance in the past seven days. Just moments ago, Alex Gordon topped a 4-1 week with a walk off hit in the tenth inning. The club now sits at 17-10, on pace for 102 victories. As awesome as Gordon’s hit was, the week belonged...
After a couple days of speculation, we have learned that starting pitcher Gavin Floyd's (pictured below, H/T SI) muscle tear in his throwing arm will indeed require surgery. Specifically, it'll require Tommy John surgery that will end his 2013 season and career on the south side of Chicago.
Right now, reports say that he 'tentatively plans' to have Tommy...
The Chicago White Sox have been renowned for keeping pitchers relatively healthy in recent years, including the successful rehabilitation of former Cy Young winner Jake Peavy, who made an incredible comeback after completely tearing his latissimus dorsi tendon completely off the bone in 2010. Unfortunately, that trend does not seem to be continuing in to 2013, with Tommy John...
Just waiting for the video link to be available. Not able to find a lineup card on Facebook but I do know that its Jose Quintana working the mound today. Sorry Gang, all the links are dead and what I do have is NO SOUND and have given in to visual only.
Grab a coffee and get settled, will see you at the top of the first inning.

The pitching situation on the south side of Chicago is becoming dire. Gavin Floyd is facing Tommy John surgery and Jake Peavy’s back is on the verge of landing him on the disabled list.
Peavy will miss his scheduled start against the Royals on Monday. Peavy was to start Thursday night but had his rotation turn bumped back a few days when the initial stiffness began.
In place of...

The Royals' game against the White Sox was postponed due to weather on Friday and will be made up Monday, when the teams were scheduled to have a day off.
The Royals played into the fourth inning against Tampa Bay on Thursday before that game was also postponed with snow starting to fall on the field.
The weather wasn't much better Friday. The temperature was hovering in...
Last night, the Texas Rangers held their annual "Bark in the Park" event against the Chicago White Sox and it appears that one pooch did his best to stick it out to the final out.
Clearly, the coat is doing a good job at keeping him warm...
