Jimmy Rollins made it clear earlier this year that he wanted to remain in Philadelphia. On Saturday he passed Mike Schmidt was the Phillies all-time hit leader and told reporters after the game that he may allow the team to trade him prior to the July 31 trade deadline.
“It really depends if everything is blown up,” he told reporters after Saturday’s game. “Then you take that into consideration. If they blow everything up, then of course.”
“Fortunately, I don’t have to worry about that right now,” Rollins said. “But if that time does come, and it’s time to go … people move on.”
Any trade involving Rollins may be simply a salary dump by the Phillies. The 35-year-old shortstop is making $11 million and hitting .249/.344/.402 on the season.

Saturday at the ballpark, for me at least, was a great, great day. When Jimmy Rollins came up in September of 2000, it was the start of my junior year of high school. I'm 31 now, and in between, Jimmy, along with Chase, Ryan, Cole, Chooch, and others, gave us...

It’s likely even worse when you’re reporting in front of rowdy 2014 FIFA World Cup fans.
