To read my take on that, click here. After Joe Nathan signed with the Rangers and with Jonathan Broxton supposedly not interested in being a Met, Brad Lidge seems like the best option. In addition to Broxton, other closers such as Frank Francisco, Matt Capps, Brad Lidge, Francisco Cordero, Francisco Rodriguez, Heath Bell, and Ryan Madson are still available on the free agent market.

Royals agree to deal with P Broxton

The Kansas City Royals have reach agreement on a one-year contract with right-handed reliever Jonathan Broxton. The 27-year-old Broxton was limited to 14 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season, going 1-2 with seven saves and a 5.68 ERA. He is coming back from minor elbow surgery and will be looking to regain the former that made him one of baseball's top closers. The...

Mets not in on Broxton

Reports indicate that Jonathan Broxton will select his next team within the week, but despite needing a closer the Mets aren't believed to be involved.  The Mets never appeared interested in Broxton and probably his injury history is why. I'm glad the Mets are passing on him, Broxton seems to be an injury waiting to happen...

Dodgers not short on options to fill Broxton void

With Jonathan Broxton having departed to Kansas City, the closer shoes left to fill are large in Chavez Ravine, but it's not as if the Dodgers' bullpen is bare when it comes to protecting ninth-inning leads.

The Dodgers did not offer salary arbitration by Wednesday night's deadline to any of their seven free agents and will receive no compensation if they sign with another club. They are Casey Blake, Jonathan Broxton, Jon Garland, Hiroki Kuroda, Mike MacDougal, Aaron Miles and Vicente Padilla. Kuroda is the lone ranking player among them, a Type B.
