This is one play that gives the phrase having your teammate's back new meaning — literally. In the third inning of Saturday's  Astros-Marlins game, with nobody out and runners at the corners, Miami starter Tom Koehler tossed a 1-2 pitch that Houston DH Chris Carter shot back to the pitcher's mound. Koehler tried to get out of the way, but could only manage to turn his back before being struck by the ball, sending it high into the air.Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria managed to track the ricocheted ball down and catch it for the unusual out.Luckily for Koehler, who didn't know what happened on the play, he wasn't injured and actually went on to strike out the next two batters."It was kind of weird," Koehler said later. "It kind of just used my back as a ramp to get to Hech. After icing my shoulder, my shoulder was redder than my back. There wasn't even proof that I got hit, which I guess was good."Good enough to get out of jam.Your browser does not support iframes.

Adeiny Hechavarria catches pop up off Tom Koehler’s back

With runners on the corners, Miami Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler took a Chris Carter line drive off his back, but rather than hitting him square, it ricocheted up in the air just beyond second base where shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria was waiting to catch it. Your typical 1-6 liner-pop-out putout. Koehler stayed in the game.

Marlins take down Astros for first set of back-to-back wins

The Marlins' offense made the top halves of Friday's nine innings at Minute Maid Park torturous. Fortunately for them, Brad Hand made the bottom halves a treat. In spite of having just two runs to show for their 11 hits, the Marlins topped the Astros 2-0 thanks Hand's second victory in as many outings. Hand held the Astros to three hits over a career-high 7 1/3 innings...

Marlins roll Astros for sixth win in seven games

The Marlins entered Saturday's game at Minute Maid Park with a 16-2 record when scoring seven or more runs. They also were 4-9 when their starter completes exactly five innings. Both situations occurred. Not exactly an immovable object and unstoppable force scenario, but in this case offense trumped the shaky start. The Marlins blitzed Jarred Cosart for five runs through two...

Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler fails hard at posterizing Jarrod Saltalamacchia (VIDEO)

via YouTube Before Sunday’s game, Marlins starting pitcher Tom Koehler tried to posterize (look it up) Jarrod Saltalamacchia.  He failed.  Miserably.  Instead of (pretend) dunking all over Salty and hanging on the rim, Koehler’s midsection went flying into Salty’s body and he went crashing to the dugout floor. The Marlins had won four in a row and eight of their last ten...
