Giancarlo Stanton reached base three times and Steve Cishek notched his 18th save for Miami, which snapped a four-game losing streak. Troy Tulowitzki hit his 17th home run and D.J. LeMahieu had three hits for the Rockies, who are 2-2 in a key 10-game homestand. The Marlins' scoring drought reached a franchise-record 37 innings after a three-game sweep at Milwaukee over the weekend. They had not scored since Derek Dietrich's two-run homer in the fourth inning of a loss to Washington on July 14. They failed to score the last six innings of that game before being shut out in three straight games for the second time in franchise history. The Marlins ended their frustration right away against Colorado. Lucas reached on a one-out single in the first and scored on Stanton's double to r...

Logan Morrison Reacts to Ryan Braun News Saying 37-Inning Scoreless Streak Proves Miami Marlins Innocence

Ryan Braun’s suspension for the rest of the 2013 season was announced Monday evening, and while most major leaguers are going to have reactions about the decision, Logan Morrison of the Miami Marlins may have had the best. The Marlins, who rank last in the Majors in hits, runs, home runs, RBI and batting percentage, also haven’t scored in 37 innings — the longest streak since...

Reaching for relief: Colorado Rockies desperate for pitching

Pitching wins championships. It’s really that simple. No one denies that you need an offense to put runs on the board. An offense can carry your team far. But when the summer sun fades, games in October come down to the arms you have throwing them. In Denver, there appears to be a lack of concern for a glaring pitching problem. A problem that left uncorrected, will eliminate...

Yelich Shines for Marlins in Debut

The Miami Marlins don’t have a lot of what most would call “star power”, but what little they have was on display in Tuesday’s 4-2 win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. It was another superb start for 20-year-old All-Star Jose Fernandez, who went seven solid innings allowing just two runs on five hits [...]

The Marlins Haven’t Scored Since July 14

The title is not a misnomer.  The Miami Marlins, who are in contention for MLB’s worst team with the Houston Astros, have not scored a run during a MLB-sanctioned game since July 14.  That is seven days for all you English majors.  Now, that number is a little misleading because the All-Star Game took place last week, but they still had a 3-game set this weekend versus the NL...

Rockies meet news of Braun's suspension with disgust, surprise

The conversation, as expected Monday, centered on drugs in sports. But the batting cage at Coors Field might have been the only place in Colorado where the topic wasn't Broncos star Von Miller. As the Rockies prepared for Monday's game against the Marlins, news trickled onto the field that Milwaukee's Ryan Braun had accepted a 65-game suspension for his involvement in...
