Hometown: Bonao, Dominican Republic
Experience: Second season
2011 in review: Francisco split last year between the minors and the Cincinnati Reds, but has been one of the Reds top prospects for the past several seasons. He hit .258 with three home runs with the Reds and 16 more homers in the minors.
Career highlight: He hit his first career home run on his third career at-bat in the majors, going deep off Marlins reliever Leo Nunez on Sept. 18, 2009. Francisco hit a 502-foot home run at Great American Ballpark in 2011, the second longest at the park and the first to clear the sun deck in right field.
Outlook: Known for his power, Francisco, who is out of minor league options, will fill in at third until Chipper Jones returns from a knee injury next week, allowing Martin Prado to stay in left, if needed. Braves GM Frank Wren said Francisco could succeed Jones at third after this season.
You should know: Averaged 25.3 home runs a year from 2007-09 as one of the top power hitting prospects in the Reds system.
