Since the Mets made their splash at the Winter Meetings about month ago they had been relatively quiet until this past week.  None of the moves that were made will wow you, but they filled some holes with quality yet affordable bench players who can start and fill in if necessary.

SS-Ronny Cedeno:
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports  has reported via Twitter that Ronny Cedeno has agreed to join the Mets on a 1 year deal worth $1.2 Million.   Cedeno is not going to impress you with his offensive abilities, but he is a quality back up infielder behind Tejada.  He has 400 plus at bats each of the past two seasons and over that span has 54 doubles and 10 home runs.  He will probably hit around .250, but provide good defense and can serve as a fill in at shortstop should Tejada struggle or get injured.

OF-Scott Hariston:
Alderson also decided to bring back OF Scott Hairston on a 1 year deal worth $1.1 Million. I was not very happy with Hairston at the beginning of last season as he started out slow.  However he played well after that and provided some power and filled in when needed.  He is capable of starting for a few weeks and being productive if he needed to fill in due to injury. Hairston ended the season hitting 7 home runs and 8 doubles in just 132 at bats.

News and Notes:
Sandy spoke with reporters earlier this week and essentially said that he is still looking for a swing man.  He wants a pitcher who can pitch out of both the bullpen and spot start if needed.  He also wants to add depth at Triple-A should we be hit with any injuries so he needs players with options.

We still hear the occasional rumors flying around about Niese,  Murphy and Duda, but I am thinking that the big moves are over.   We have a little over a month until players begin to report to Spring Training so there will still be plenty of moves.  We still have guys like Prince Fielder, Edwin Jackson and Roy Oswalt who are still deciding where they want to sign. The teams that lose out on these guys may come calling for players like Murphy, Duda and Niese to fill the voids they failed to address in Free Agency.
