PLAYERS: Jeffrey Loria
TEAMS: Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins are hoping to make a big splash during the 2012 MLB season. To coincide with their new name and a brand new stadium, the team will debut a bold new look. Several uniform designs have been floating around the web over the past few weeks, but the Marlins’ latest fashions were officially unveilied yesterday at the new ballpark. Style was the focus of the event, which featured a musical performance from Pitbull as 8 players participated in a fashion show highlighting the team’s new threads. Check out the video footage:

“If our ballpark could speak, its first words would be ‘Hola Miami,” said owner Jeffrey Loria. And the new gear says the same thing. The uniforms are reflective of Miami, especially when it comes to the featured orange, aqua, yellow and black hues. “We are unique, we’re sleek and different, and we are the colors of Miami. We are the red-orange of the breathtaking Miami sunsets and the citrus industry, the blue of the sky and the sea, and the yellow of the beautiful Miami sunshine,” Loria said.

The Marlins’ updated look was designed with the essence of the fans in mind, which Loria described as “Cool. Miami. International.” The gear invites the use of brighter and non-traditional baseball uniform color schemes and the logo is contemporary in design. As far as the offerings, the team revealed four new uniforms including home white, road gray and alternate black jerseys, each with the word “Miami” written in block letters across the chest. Loria explained that having the city name on primary uniforms is not common. ” It’s a rarity in Major League Baseball. We’re proud of where our home is and we want to remind the world when we take the field.” Also part of the mix is a red-orange alternate jersey which reads “Marlins” across the chest.

Marlins fans can purchase the new gear here. Below is a closer look at each style courtesy of the Sun Sentinel. What do you think?
