Weekend in January or not there is plenty of news in Major League Baseball’s hot stove. Ryan Madson, Brad Hawpe, Ryan Ludwick, Kerry Wood, and Arthur Rhodes are all looking for where they will play in 2012 while Manny Ramirez gets a look from a few teams.Ryan Madson is still jobless after nearly signing a 4 year $44 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Since that deal fell through, the musical chair of closers has ended up with numerous big names changing teams and Madson being the guy left without a chair. His asking price will have to substantially decrease and one team could end up with a bargain on a guy that had 32 saves in 2011 and a 2.37 ERA. According to CBS Sports the Texas Rangers have inquired about Madson’s services. The Rangers signed Joe Nathan but look to be open to adding another closer after also discussing Andrew Bailey with the A’s before he was traded to Boston. It is hard to believe the Rangers would be willing to spend more than $8 mil...

Kerry Wood Headed To The Phillies
Last week it seemed like only a matter of time until Kerry Wood re-signed with the franchise that he has spent the majority of his career with, the Chicago Cubs, but now there seems to be a new suitor in the mix for Wood. ESPN: Phillies Have Interest in Reliever Kerry Wood
Wood in red pinstripes? Maybe. (Photo: SB Nation)According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com, the Phillies feel they are one bullpen piece short of a full house and are interested in the service of longtime Cubs reliever Kerry Wood. The Rangers’ Pursuit of Madson
The Texas Rangers took an interesting approach at the 2011 trade deadline. Instead of seeking big-time impact talent in the lineup or rotation, they sought to shore up the bullpen. Jon Daniels worked out deals with the Orioles for Mike Gonzalez and Koji Uehara, and when it seemed like Heath Bell was headed to Texas, it turned out the Rangers’ bid was awarded the prized Mike...

Ryan Ludwick “Popular Fellow”
So I’m a little surprised tonight. While browsing through my twitter feed I saw an interesting tweet from Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. This tweet talked about Ryan Ludwick and how “popular” he currently is, apparently there at least four clubs who have offered him a deal. My thought was really? Ryan Ludwick?
@JonHeymanCBS: Heard ryan ludwick has at least 4 job...

More Relief for the Phillies?
The veteran could find himself in the Phillies bullpen in 2012.
When Jimmy Rollins inked his contract extension last month, it signaled the end of the shopping season for Ruben Amaro and the Phillies front office.
