So much for momentum The only good news is that the series was only 2 games; Ackley makes first appearance… Pittsburgh 4, Seattle 2 When: 3:40 PM ET, Wednesday, June 26, 2013 Where: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington Temperature: 65° Umpires: Home – Bill Miller, 1B – Todd Tichenor, 2B – Dale Scott, 3B – CB Bucknor Attendance: 21265 The crowd drew in a collected breath; the moment had come for a glorious return. First baseman Kendrys Morales had connected on a line-drive double to put the go-ahead runner in scoring position in the 8th inning of an afternoon matinee game. Out from the dugout came the most anticipated return of a former No. 1 pick since Ken Griffey Jr. came back for his farewell tour seasons before. Dustin Ackley is back. He walked onto the field to a standing ovation as he pinch-ran for the third-slowest Mariner in the organization. WHAT A COMEBACK! Raul Ibanez continues to be productive. (Photo: Otto Greule Jr./Getty Images) Unfortunately, our hero would be stranded at second. Also, our hero was not returning from injury or a trade to Cincinnati or New York. Dustin Ackley was merely returning from a productive AAA stint that has already mirrored Justin Smoak’s trip a season ago. Once again, the frustration of this team continues both on paper and on the field, although the latter is getting harder and harder to swallow. Felix Hernandez was not perfect, but provided more than enough opportunity to keep his team in the game. His stat line (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 11 KO)  is enough to make most pitchers a winner, but alas and alack, not this one. Tuesday Less than 24 hours before, SafeCo Joe decided to take his nickname and piss all over it. That may sound crass, but cameras caught him in the dugout urinating on a picture of himself with the headline “Safeco Joe” after being pulled in the second inning after giving up six runs. Needless to say, Joe Saunders had himself a rough evening. The Pirates came into to town riding a modest four-game win streak and leave today with a better six-game winning streak. Pirates fans should write in and tell us how it feels to be in a pennant race despite fierce competition in the NL Central. The Pirates, Cardinals, and Reds are all within four games of each other, and all of them have more than 45 wins. Meanwhile, Seattle has dipped below 10 games under .500 yet again. Raul Ibanez continues to be productive; perhaps our best hitter in the last six weeks, as he hit another home run today. Why can’t anyone under the age of 35 do anything productive at the plate?!
