Right now, there’s a lot of talk about whether or not Hunter Pence should be an All-Star this year. But perhaps the bigger question that Giants fans should be asking is whether or not he should be a Giant next year.
Pence is definitely having a down year. He’s currently batting .264 with 22 doubles and 43 RBIs. He is tied with Buster Posey for the most home runs on the team – 13 – but that’s the silver-lining for his offensive numbers. He owns a lifetime average of .283. but last season hit just .219 after being traded to the Giants from the Phillies in July. Perhaps the dimensions of AT&T Park are hindering Pence’s ability to hit, or perhaps he’s just in a bit of a slump. Either way, it’s made him a big question mark for the 2014 Giants.
Now, I’m not saying that right field is the biggest area of concern for San Francisco. Left field, currently being platooned by Gregor Blanco, Andres Torres, Cole Gillespie, and Kensuke Tanaka to name a few, is by far the biggest question mark....

What do I think of the Giants signing Jeff Francoeur?
I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see it having a major impact. I was wrong, after all, about Pat Burrell.
Francoeur has had a lot of bad years and only one good one over the last half-decade or so. He’s decent against left-handed pitching only. He’s got mediocre defense. I don’t see him catching the Giants magic...
So, Chad Gaudin had himself quite a night in Vegas earlier this year.
The Giants pitcher is charged with open and gross lewdness, a misdemeanor, after he was arrested back in January for allegedly groping a woman in an ER lobby.
It’s a story that’s just downright bizarre and creepy.
Police say it all went down at 4:30 a.m. at the Desert Springs Hospital three miles off the...
The sight of the bullpen warming up is not something Matt Cain is used to in the first inning of a game, but that's exactly what happened on Wednesday night against the New York Mets. A short time later, following John Buck's two-run single, San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy pulled Cain for Mike Kickham after just 36 pitches. Cain told Tim Kawakami of the San Jose...
It didn't take long for Kensuke Tanaka to make a big impression during his MLB debut Tuesday night.
The San Francisco Giants leftfielder also left a little mark on the left field wall after robbing the New York Mets' Andrew Brown of hit in the second-inning with this spectacular catch.

The San Francisco Giants have optioned left-handed pitcher Mike Kickham to Triple-A Fresno. The young lefty did not make an appearance during his latest call up back on Tuesday. He rejoins Fresno’s rotation and should get another chance later in the summer to showcase his talents at the big league level.

Man, from these fans, you’d never know the Giants had won 2 World Series titles in 3 years…
From the SB Nation San Francisco Giants blog McCovey Chronicles
“I’ve been praying and praying for Jeff Francoeur to save the Giants I’m anticipating a 30 game winning streak starting tonight!”
“Mostly, having to do with Jeff Francoeur’s stupidly spelled name. I officially...
It’s no secret that the San Francisco Giants are in the midst of a brutal slump. The club has only won three out of its last fifteen games. This includes dropping five straight series dating back to June 20th against the lowly Miami Marlins. The rotation has been in shambles all season and now the offense is struggling as well. Other than Buster Posey, the heart of the lineup has...
Oakland fans have had to wait a long time for days like this. As anyone familiar with Bay Area baseball will surely know, the San Francisco Giants have won two out of the last three World Series Championships. For too long now Oakland fans have seen throngs of new Giants fans delivered by the week, but as Bob Dylan might say the times they are a changing. The Oakland Athletics have...
Pablo Sandoval hit his first home run since May 21, and All-Star Madison Bumgarner settled down to allow just four hits in seven innings as the San Francisco Giants beat the San Diego Padres 4-2 Thursday night in a matchup of the worst teams in the weak NL West.
The defending World Series champion Giants, who snapped a four-game losing streak, have been in a free-fall since June...
Wait, the Giants won?
Does that mean we’ve passed Rock Bottom?
Actually, I didn’t ask that. Don’t want to jinx anything. Sorry, Baseball Gods!
What originally looked like an evenly-matched game escalated quickly as the San Francisco Giants fell once more to the New York Mets 10-6 on Tuesday night. Marlon Byrd knocked any hope of either extra-innings or a Giants win out of the park with a grand slam in the eighth inning.
Jeremy Affeldt, whose three earned runs scored on Byrd’s slam, was grasping at straws. “It stinks...

If there’s one thing we’re learning a few weeks before the trade deadline, it’s that the Red Sox are fishing for bullpen help. Their excursion stems from coast to coast.
According to FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi, the Red Sox and Tigers have checked in with the Giants about relievers in case San Francisco decides to sell.
The Giants enter Thursday with a 40-50 record, and although...
