Quite a few things went down with the Washington Nationals yesterday, and they're all worth noting quickly or repeating.  Hare are a few interersting things to read and think about from the Nats on Monday.

Drew Storen’s lingering elbow – As we wrote about this morning, Drew Storen will see Dr. James Andrews, baseball’s leading elbow specialist, based on a setback he had in the last few days.  It’s definitely concerning if the Nationals plan to compete this season.  It’s hard to lose a closer.

Henry Rodriguez’ loss – Rodriguez got his first loss this season when he was brought into his second inning of work in the 9th last night.  Craig MacHenry of Capitol Baseball reminded us what happened when Rodriguez was brought in to throw a second inning last year.  Maybe it’s time to stop that experiment.

Tom Gorzelanny wasn’t terrible. No, seriously. – I’ve been rough on Gorzelanny this season, and he deserved it throughout the spring.  However, in his first spring appearance, he wasn’t terrible, and that alone is worth pointing out.  He did walk 3 batters, but he threw 2.2 innings of long relief on Monday.  He gave up 2 hits and no runs.  Gorzelanny may have just been working on stuff this spring, but the 3 walks in less than 3 innings is still a bit concerning.  If the Nats get consistent appearances like this from Gorzelanny though, they’ll be thrilled.

Tommy Milone’s ridiculous start – Milone was part of the trade that brought Gio Gonzalez to Washington this offseason, and he’s done well to impress is new Oakland teammates in his first outing of the season Monday.  Milone threw 8 innings of no run, 3 hit baseball.  He walked 3 and didn’t strike out any, but it’s still an impressive start to Milone’s career in Oakland.  Meanwhile, Brad Peacock was demoted to Triple-A Sacramento, while many thought Peacock was more “Major League ready” than Milone.  Congrats to Tommy on his stellar first start.
