Pro Sports Daily:
The Astros' two main trading chips starting pitcher Bud Norris and reliever Jose Veras are drawing considerable interest according to sources.
The likelihood would seem to be that both veteran players are traded from the also-ran team as last-place Houston which has done an excellent job gathering prospects lately continues to shoot for 2015 and beyond. The Astros have said they don't have to trade Norris as his $3-million salary isn't onerous but it should also increase his desirability to other teams.
On the other hand if they finish with the worst record the Astros wrap up a third straight No. 1 overall pick in next year's draft -- not that they'd prefer losing. Carlos Rodon a top lefthander out of North Carolina State is seen as the likely plum of the draft.
Teams believed to have shown interest in Norris at some point include the Red Sox Pirates Phillies Rangers Giants Dodgers and Orioles -- though Texas has acquired Matt Garza Baltimore Scott Feldman and...
BEST OF MAXIM
Arguably the largest chip in the starting-pitching trade market has fallen, as the Texas Rangers acquired Matt Garza from the Chicago Cubs yesterday for a package built around top prospects Mike Olt and C.J. Edwards. As such, team's figure to shift their focus to the next-best available arms, and Houston Astros right-hander Bud Norris can be included on that list. General...
Oakland A’s rookie first baseman Nate Freiman is 6’8″. Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is 5’5″ (allegedly).
Houston Astros center fielder Jason Maxwell and left fielder J.D. Martinez were both going for the same fly ball when there was a serious miscommunication. Luckily for them the collision wasn’t that bad, but this is the type of stuff that happens on a 34-65 baseball team. The Athletics went on to beat the Astros 5-4.
It wasn’t a near-no hitter. But it was just as promising.
Making his first start at Minute Maid Park, League City native Jarred Cosart threw seven confident and sharp innings Tuesday during the Astros’ 5-4 come-from-behind victory against the Oakland A’s in an American League West matchup before an announced crowd of 32,249.

Tuesday night’s game between the Oakland A’s and Houston Astros seemed almost destined to become the A’s first loss to Houston on the season – and that’s what happened, as the Astros pulled out a 5-4 win in the bottom of the ninth, ending Grant Balfour’s consecutive saves streak in the process.
Against rookie Jarred Cosart, the A’s picked up a run in the first thanks...
Rookie Jonathan Villar scored the winning run from second base in the ninth inning when catcher Derek Norris had a passed ball and then made a bad throw on the same play to give the Houston Astros a 5-4 win over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.

The Astros trailed 4-2 entering...
Erik Bedard likely is hoping a return to his native Canada will also be the end of his four-start losing streak as the Houston Astros begin a 10-game road trip.
The Toronto Blue Jays, though, aren't finding home to be all that cozy as they'll look to end a six-game losing streak at Rogers Centre and a seven-game skid overall in Thursday night's series opener between...
There was only one word to describe Oakland's play through four innings on Monday night against the Houston Astros.
''Ugly,'' player after player and manager Bob Melvin said.
As ugly as the start was, the Athletics managed to put it behind them and rallied for a 4-3 win.
Josh Reddick put Oakland on top with a two-run homer in the eighth inning and the Athletics...

You know those instances when you feel that you have a better knowledge of what moves a team needs to make than the general manager? Well, this is not one of those times.
One thing that we all know for sure is that the Baltimore Orioles need to add at least one solid starter before the playoffs or they can kiss any dream of playoff success away. Baltimore is tied for third worst...
