Photo Credit: The Baltimore Orioles may have ended the 2013 season in disappoint, however the individuals that have made the team what they are over the last two years were recognized today. Adam Jones, Manny Machado and J.J. Hardy all took home Gold Gloves for this season’s fielding performances. The Orioles are the first team since the 2003-2004 St. Louis Cardinals to have three Gold Glove winners in back to back season. These awards were well deserved by the Orioles’ players, as the team commited an MLB record-low 54 errors during the 2013 season. For Adam Jones, this is his third Gold Glove, J.J. Hardy notched his second while young phenom Manny Machado grabbed his first award. I can’t imagine a scenario where Machado isn’t on this list for the next decade easily. While the season may have been a downer, the Orioles are glad to get the recognition at season’s end. Next year with a few key pieces and the already stellar defense, this team could make a serious run through the post season. Defense wins championships in all sports, as of now they have that end covered.   Follow us on Twitter: @DCSportsKings

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado, center fielder Adam Jones and shortstop J.J. Hardy were honored with this year’s American League Gold Glove Awards for defensive excellence at their respective positions. This is the second straight year the Orioles have had three Gold Glove players. They tied the Kansas City Royals for most Gold Gloves […]

Orioles taking it slow with their free agents so far this offseason

There's always some impatience by baseball fans shortly after the regular season ends and before free agency really gets going. And the Orioles' brass has been doing things -- most specifically, interviewing candidates for the club’s vacant pitching coach position. But as for some of the other avenues to improve the team, nothing appears to be particularly hot. The Orioles...

Now, it’s time for start getting ready for 2014. The season begins five months from today against the Boston Red Sox. From now until Monday at midnight, the Orioles may re-sign their own free agents...

2013 Offseason Primer: Baltimore Orioles

Following a surprise run to the playoffs in 2012, the Orioles fought to return to the postseason this year but ultimately couldn't hang with the Red Sox and Rays in the AL East and buckled in the wild-card race as well. General manager Dan Duquette and manager Buck Showalter made few changes last offseason, taking the chance that the same team could make the playoffs again. The...

The Baltimore Orioles have hired 66-year-old Dave Wallace as their pitching coach on Tuesday. Wallace, who has spent the past four years as Atlanta's minor league pitching coordinator, replaces Rick Adair, who left the Orioles in mid-August for personal reasons. He's been the pitching coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros. The...

Atlanta Braves minor league pitching co-coordinator Dave Wallace has been hired to coach the Baltimore Orioles pitching staff for 2014. Wallace has over 30 years in pro baseball and has served as pitching coach with four clubs including the Dodgers, Mets, Astros, and most notably, a World Series title with the 2004 Red Sox. Nolan Reimold, optimistic on 2014 return

For Orioles fans, the story of Nolan Reimold is something of a frustration. When he’s healthy he’s capable of contributing to any big league offense he hits for. But that’s been the issue. Staying healthy. Since his debut in 2009, he hasn’t appeared in more than 87 games for Baltimore. And just 56 games total since opening day 2012. His 2013 ended on May 18th  when he was...
