Last night, the Orioles took the series with another walk-off. This time, off of a wild pitch in extra innings. But before the walk-off and the rain delay, Camden Yards had some excitement thanks to Nelson Cruz. The Orioles were behind, 4-0, in the bottom of the 8th inning when Nelson Cruz came up to bat with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Cruz was 0-for-3 with two GIDP and a fly ball that was caught right at the left field wall, so with the bases loaded, he knew what every fan wanted. He didn’t disappoint. With a 2-1 count, Cruz takes a fastball to right field and it hits right above the wall. Grand slam, game tied.   The Orioles weren’t able to walk it off in the bottom of the 9th so it was now time for some extra innings, but not before Mother Nature interrupted the game. The tarp came on before the 10th inning and the game was delayed a little over an hour. As the extra innings went on, the Orioles were able to get only one base runner on until the 12th inning. With a  leadoff walk, a single and no outs, Steve Pearce came up to bat. Pearce has a history of clutch hitting and with a runner on third, nobody was doubting that he would pull through again. Then on the first pitch, David Lough scores from third and the Orioles win it with a walk-off wild pitch. This is the Orioles’ sixth walkoff win & second in three games.   For every big Orioles win, comes a Dangerously Delicious pie during the post-game interview. Nelson Cruz was expecting the big pie moment from Adam Jones so no pie to the face for Cruz, but instead he decided to share with the remaining fans in the stands.   Follow us on Twitter: @DCSportsKings @asianmegan
