Those of you who follow Ozzie Guillen on Twitter may have thought his account was hacked on Thursday night. Athletes and celebrities having their Twitter pages hacked has become common practice. Even worse, many of them will simply claim their page was hacked if they write something they regret or that receives too much negative attention. None of that applied to Guillen on Thursday night, however. His tweet about Bed Bath and Beyond was totally legit. “I like to cook. I like to be in my house,” Ozzie told reporters Friday according to the Palm Beach Post. “I like to be around my family… That’s the reason I love to go there. “That’s a relaxed place for me. I’d rather be there than drinking. I buy a lot of stuff. I want to feel like I’m in my own house. That’s why I spend a lot of money there. It’s my favorite store.” To each his own, right? If any manager in MLB history is going to admit they love Bed Bath and Beyond, it’s Ozzie. He also said he only buys wooden hangers and won’t

White Sox 2B Beckham ready to 'let loose' in 2012

After a disappointing 2011 season with the Chicago White Sox, Gordon Beckham cleared his head this offseason. He hit .230 and struck out a career-high 111 times in 150 games last year. The problem wasn't his swing, Beckham said, but his approach. ''I was a little timid,'' he explained. ''It's not how I roll.'' Even his dad noticed he wasn...

Santiago used winter to refine screwball

Throwing the screwball helped Hector Santiago get to the Majors in 2011 after spending parts of five seasons in the White Sox system. So the 24-year-old lefty continued to sharpen that particular pitch while playing winter ball in Puerto Rico this past offseason.

Ventura making smooth transition to manager

Soon after Ozzie Guillen left the White Sox, names started popping up as possible managerial replacements. Nowhere on that list was Robin Ventura. But the only list that really mattered was the one put together by general manager Ken Williams.

Miami Marlins video: Ozzie Guillen on how many bullpen spots are up for grabs

Here’s Ozzie Guillen’s response when asked about how many bullpen jobs are available. My two cents: Figuring Heath Bell, Edward Mujica, Ryan Webb, Mike Dunn and Randy Choate are locks. Juan Carlos Oviedo would be as well, if he was here. Could be as few as one or two spots. brightcove.createExperiences();

Rios turns to video to reclaim offensive spark

During this past offseason, Alex Rios went back to his successful past to help reclaim his offense for both the present and the future. Rios studied video of his swing and his approach from his successful 2006 and '07 seasons with the Blue Jays.

Rule Change Friday: Designated Runner

By a simple count of singles, walks, and hit by pitches, Paul Konerko was on first base 192 times last season. He attempted two steals, and got caught once. Obviously, not all of those situations had second open or were otherwise good situations for stealing, but it is fair to say that he had more than two good opportunities. In addition, according to UBR, Konerko was about 10 runs...

Rios prefers center or right

There has been talk that Alex Rios, the 2011 White Sox center fielder, could become the 2012 White Sox left fielder, with Alejandro De Aza moving to center. Rios has just one career game of experience in left from the 2010 season and sounded hesitant to make the move when speaking on the topic Saturday.

Miami Marlins poll: Who should hit atop the order?

Manager Ozzie Guillen likely will use some combination of Jose Reyes and Emilio Bonifacio atop the batting order, but he didn’t rule out Omar Infante as the No. 2 hitter. What combination of tablesetters will maximize the club’s offensive potential? Who should hit first and second for the Miami Marlins?

Speedy ‘Dominican Trio’ hopes to steal the show for Miami Marlins

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen wants Jose Reyes, Emilio Bonifacio and Hanley Ramirez to be serious stolen-base threats.
