Vance Worley fills out the bottom of the rotation, making starts like yesterday’s for the Philadelphia Phillies. Are the young guns in San Francisco getting the job done?  The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my recent coverage linked below.

TAL’S HANDY STATS

WELCOME, NEWCOMERS:

I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the number after the title will be based on the quantity of outcomes played by the Phillies. Occasionally, I will skip a stat update, especially after a night game before a matinee.

Tal’s Handy Stats will be delayed until the daily article’s feed is completed.  Photo, not described otherwise, is in the 1st inning.

REASONING For The Stats:

These numbers are a glimpse over the pitching coach’s shoulder, because they warn of difficulty ahead. The rule of thumb is that the bullpen load should be no more than 33.3%, which is a 6-complete average per scheduled outing. That is why going a distance into the game is 6.1 frames or more, which is 70.4%. The added detail of 1 out per contest is 54 innings over the long summer’s course. This also shows the mound masters that give the relievers a well deserved night off, but there is a rust factor due to lack of backend chances. If there are any questions, please ask.

Phillies Flash Back to the 90's, Part III

The final of the photoshops: Vance Worley in "Home Alone," Michael Martinez as Tupac, Philadelphia's own "Casual Broadcasters," Placido Polanco in "Jurassic Park," Erik Kratz as Ace Ventura, Brian Schneider as Danny Tanner in "Full House," and Scott Franzke & Larry Anderson in "Dumb and Dumber."

Frandsen, Kratz give Phillies fans reason to stick it out in September

Let's give the Phillies some credit. Despite being out of the playoff hunt, they have become a team that can be fun to watch. With a little over a month to go in the season we know that the Phillies will miss out on October baseball for the first time since 2006, which means that we will get plenty of time to watch some guys get some playing time in hopes of staying on the roster...

The Philadelphia Phillies Celebrate 1990′s “Retro Night”

Last night the Philadelphia Phillies paid homage to the terrible (or awesome depending on how you look at it) trends and style of the 1990′s with Retro Night. Each player had a special graphic when they stepped up to the plate, Waldo was in the house and apparently the walk up music included some classics too. The Best Of The Philadelphia Phillies 1990s Retro Night

You know those annoying Facebook macros going around with a picture of the Angry Beavers on it or whatever, with a big caption reading “ONLY 90S KIDS WOULD REMEMBER THIS CLICK LIKE” across the top? The Philadelphia Phillies made an entire night out of that.Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to Brandon Bronson Arroyo was ’90s Retro Night at Citizens Bank Park, and as the mascot-loving...

Prime Nine: Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies are an enigma wrapped in riddle this season. Their farm system is very similar in that it has a lot of high points and some low points. There are two players in the top ten at their position that will not be included here. Sebastian Valle is a top ten catcher, but falls behind Tommy Joseph (also a top ten catcher) on the rankings for the team...

One Summary Phillies 90's Retro Night Picture Post: Nate Schierholtz As Vanilla Ice, More!

Many thanks to Danielle for keeping up with all the pictures I was texting her.  Here's one large summary post that will get you all the photos in one spot and include any that we missed.   The other were with my iPhone; these are taken with a digitial camera.  These were taken by me and my wife throughout the game. There's a lot of these, so I did split this post,...

John Mayberry Walks it off with RBI Single in Eleventh Inning; Phils win, 4-3

Cole Hamels against Johnny Cueto sounds like an awfully good pitching match-up. The two candidates for the Cy Young award battled in a pitcher's duel after a shaky and rainy first inning from Cole Hamels. Once Hamels found his groove, the Reds were in trouble. That first inning for Cole looked like a whole lot of trouble. In the middle of a downpour, Cole gave up two singles...

Phillies 4, Reds 3(11)

John Mayberry Jr. hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday night. Todd Frazier drove in all three runs for the NL Central-leading Reds, who were seeking their first series win in Philadelphia since 2006. The Phillies tied it in the eighth on Jimmy Rollins' sacrifice fly and won...

Cozart's HR off Papelbon help Reds in win

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Zack Cozart hit a tiebreaking homer on Jonathan Papelbon's first pitch in the ninth and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Phillies 5-4 Tuesday night to snap a seven-game losing streak against Philadelphia. Kevin Frandsen hit a tying RBI triple off Jonathan Broxton in the eighth, but the NL Central-leading Reds went up to stay on Cozart's shot off Papelbon...

Final: Reds 5, Phillies 4. WP: Jonathan Broxton (3-3, 3.02 ERA) LP: Jonathan Papelbon (3-5, 2.86 ERA) SV: Aroldis Chapman (30) In a roller-coaster battle of a game, similar to the first game of the series in which the Phillies ultimately prevailed, a ninth-inning home run by Zack Cozart off of Jonathan Papelbon would prove to be the winning run for the Cincinnati Reds. Nationals-Phillies Preview

Despite being separated by 19 1/2 games in the standings, the Washington Nationals have had some trouble beating the Philadelphia Phillies. The NL East leaders, however, have yet to face them with the core of their lineup intact. That will change this weekend. The Nationals look to exact some revenge against the only team to take a series from them since the All-Star break as they...
