Russell Martin's RBI single down the left-field line scored Josh Harrison in the 10th inning and gave the Pirates a 5-4 walk-off victory against the Marlins this afternoon at PNC Park. It was the ninth walk-off win of the season for the Pirates and their second in the past three games. Harrison scored the game-winning run both times. He led off the inning off Miami reliever Steve Ames with a grounder through the middle of the infield and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Three batters later Martin has his third walk-off hit of the year. He also reached on an error to secure a walk-off win earlier this year. Jared Hughes who pitched a perfect 10th inning earned the win his second of the season. With the victory the Pirates (70-44) have now won five consecutive games their second longest winning streak of the season. The Marlins (43-70) have lost five games in a row. It is the quickest the Pirates have reached 70 wins in a season since 1972 when they reached the 70-win plateau in 112 games. All three wins against the Marlins were comeback victories of which the Pirates now have 28 this season. After going more than a month this season without hitting a sacrifice fly the Pirates evened the score in the seventh inning by hitting two of them. Former Pirate Chad Qualls loaded the bases with no outs the second time he has done that in the three-game series at PNC Park. Neil Walker and Gaby Sanchez both hit sacrifice flies to right field scoring Jose Tabata and Starling Marte to tie the score 4-4. Pirates starter Gerrit Cole had one of the roughest outings of his rookie young allowing a career-high four earned runs in five innings tied for the shortest outing of his season. He struck out four and walked one.
