Right-hander Phil Hughes will toe the rubber for the Yankees tonight in game one of three-game set against the Boston Red Sox. In his last start against the Blue Jays, Hughes lasted only four innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits while striking out four.
Robinson Cano is back in the lineup tonight after missing the last two games with a stiff neck. Derek Jeter is tonight’s...
Franklin Morales night didn't quite go as planned on Friday. The Red Sox starter tossed 5 1/3 innings against the Bronx Bombers but ultimately the home runs fell like raindrops at Yankee Stadium with the Yankees heading home with 6-4 win. The loss dropped the Red Sox back to four games under .500 and left Morales feeling like he was responsible. Check out the video above to see...
The Red Sox headed into Yankee Stadium tonight and what little hope if any of the season really banked on the team being able to take a series from the Yanks. Franklin Morales took the mound for the Sox and didn't get us off on a very good start.
Hey, if you take out the HRs then Morales pitched a pretty good game. However, I've been told it doesn't work that way...
The Yankees will send David Phelps to the mound today in game two of a three-game set against the Boston Red Sox. Phelps has faced the Red Sox twice this year, both times in a relief role. He allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings with five strikeouts. The 25-year-old is filling for the injured C.C. Sabathia, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a sore left elbow.
Red Sox pitcher Franklin Morales was featured in the MLB video below on The Expendables 3 auditions doing a Jean-Claude Van Damme impression. (Jump to the 22 second mark) As you can see he should probably stick to his job with the Red Sox, but he was doing Van Damme so the bar was not too high. Rangers pitcher Derek Holland, however, does a pretty good Arnold Schwarzenegger impression.
Boston Red Sox 4 — New York Yankees 1
David Phelps didn’t receive run support in his quality effort in today’s 4-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox.
David Phelps went a strong 6.2 innings in just his 5th big league start. He struck out 7 and went deep into his start on 95 pitches. In the 1st inning, Phelps gave up his the first runs of the game to the hot-hitting Adrian Gonzalez...
Boston Red Sox 4 — New York Yankees 6
Nick Swisher was in the center of a five home run barrage on the Boston Red Sox in a 6-4 win.
Phil Hughes went 7 solid innings with 4 hits allowed on his 106 pitches. He allowed 4 runs but none of them were earned due to an error by him. On a ground ball, Phil Hughes tried to get the out at second but ended up sending the ball to center...

We already knew that Derek Holland is pretty good with impressions. We now know that Franklin Morales kind of isn't. They were among a group of MLB players who were featured in a MLB Fan Cave video in which the guys took their turns doing impressions of the cast of The Expendables. No further explanation is needed. Check it out in the video below with big ups to Deadspin for...
Ryan Lavarnway sat out the last three games after playing four in a row. He'll be back in there Saturday against David Phelps and the Yankees. Lavarnway will bat sixth for the Red Sox, who have lost three of their last four, including Friday night's series opener. The 25-year-old enters Saturday's contest with a .125 average (9-for-39) in 17 games this season. Nick Punto...
I may be in Charlotte, NC right now for my cousin's wedding but I can honestly say that I'm surrounded by Boston Red Sox fans. So much so, that everyone was coming to me asking for updates on the game last night at the rehearsal dinner. You see, the lovely young lady my cousin is marrying is from Massachusetts and so is her family.
Naturally everyone wasn't too pleased...
The Yankees hit five solo home runs, four of them off Red Sox starter Franklin Morales in their 6-4 win over Boston in the opening game of their 3-game weekend series in the Bronx.Birthday boy Dustin Pedroia (pictured) gave the Red Sox a 4-3 lead with a 3-run blast of his own in the top of the 3rd inning off Yankees starting pitcher Phil Hughes; for Pedroia it was his 10th long ball...

Editor's note: NESN.com is going to tell the story of the 2012 Red Sox in Bobby Valentine's words. Each game day, we will select the best Valentine quote that sums up the day for the Red Sox. Franklin Morales didn't make many mistakes on Friday night against the Yankees, but every one he did make was loud. Nick Swisher had two solo home runs, Derek Jeter had one too and...
After falling last night 6-4, the Boston Red Sox look to make a statement in the middle game of a three-game set with the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
