Ken Rosenthal stoked the coals a bit (or, perhaps, took a book of matches from 7-Eleven), adding that the team was in "serious discussions" with Ibanez. Rosenthal further added that Ibanez was willing to take a discount to play in the Bronx, though I am unsure that he is in a position to be terribly picky regardless. Rumor: Yankees weighing options for DH
The Yankees signed Russell Branyan to a minor league contract as a possible DH option yesterday, but they are still in the market for another option.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweeted that they are still considering Raul Ibanez and Johnny Damon for the position and supposedly are leaning toward Ibanez because of his glove.

The New York Yankees are expected to sign a left handed designated hitter who could also serve as a platoon outfielder with Brett Gardner or Nick Swisher this season, and the final three candidates appear to be Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui and Raul Ibanez.
