AAA: INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS Box Score Result: Columbus 5, Indianapolis 2 Starting Pitcher: Jameson Taillon, RHP (4.50) – 6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Alex Presley, CF (.281) – 2-for-3, 2B Other Notable Performers: Jared Goedert, 3B (.230) – 2-for-4, 2B Vic Black, RHP (2.13) – 0.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 0 HR Game Notes: Jameson Taillon made his third start with Indianapolis, and had his best outing so far. Taillon gave up seven runs in 12 innings over his last two starts, with a 13:7 K/BB ratio. Tonight he struck out nine in six innings, giving him 22 strikeouts in 18 innings so far. That has been one positive overall in his first three starts, and tonight was another positive. He still has some control issues, although Gerrit Cole had control issues in Triple-A for over a month before settling down.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE  Box Score Result: Erie 6, Altoona 3 Starting Pitcher: Nate Baker, LHP (3-2, 6.11) – 5.0 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Carlos Paulino, C (.231) – 2-for-2, BB Other Notable Performers: Alen Hanson, SS (.214) – 1-for-4 Gregory Polanco, CF (.282) – 1-for-2 Tyler Waldron, RHP (5.29) – 2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 0 HR Game Notes: Nate Baker made his fourth start for Altoona. He has a 4.84 ERA as a starter, with a 15:7 K/BB ratio. Baker has struggled overall the entire season, although he has cut down on the walks lately. In his last ten games he has eight walks in 30.1 innings, with six of those coming in one start. Tyler Waldron made his first appearance in Altoona since mid-April when he went down with an injury. Gregory Polanco extended his hitting streak to eight games.   A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS Box Score Result: Bradenton 8, Fort Myers 4 Starting Pitcher: Zack Dodson, LHP (6-8, 4.80) – 5.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Jacob Stallings, C (.211) – 2-for-3, 2 HR, BB Other Notable Performers: Willy Garcia, RF (.264) – 1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI Jose Osuna, DH (.248) – 2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI Stetson Allie, 1B (.228) – 1-for-3, BB Game Notes: Jacob Stallings hit two homers, giving him five total on the year. Willy Garcia hit his 16th homer, putting him two shy of his 2012 totals in West Virginia. Garcia has an .810 OPS and two homers in 38 at-bats this year. Jose Osuna hit his eighth homer of the year. Stetson Allie might be heating up, going 3-for-10 with two homers and two walks in his last three games, with just one strikeout. Zack Dodson didn’t follow up well on his last start. He pitched seven no hit innings last time out.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER Box Score Result: West Virginia 5, Hickory 3 Starting Pitcher: Tyler Glasnow, RHP (2.40) – 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 7 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Francisco Diaz, C (.245) – 2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI Other Notable Performers: Josh Bell, RF (.288) – 1-for-4, 2B Game Notes: Tyler Glasnow added seven more strikeouts to his season total, giving him 147 in 101.1 innings this year. In his last ten games he has a 67:17 K/BB ratio in 49 innings. The strikeouts are in line with what he’s been doing all season, but the walks (3.1 BB/9) keep dropping as the season goes on. He also has a 1.84 ERA and a .178 BAA during that span. Josh Bell has a .365/.459/.577 line in 52 at-bats in the month of August. Dilson Herrera stole his tenth base of the year.   A-: JAMESTOWN JAMMERS Box Score Result: State College 2, Jamestown 0 Starting Pitcher: Shane Carle, RHP (2.12) – 7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Harold Ramirez, CF (.307) – 1-for-2, 2 BB, SB Other Notable Performers: Edwin Espinal, 1B (.284) – 2-for-4 Elvis Escobar, RF (.242) – 2-for-4 Game Notes: Shane Carle, taken in the 10th round this year, has a 2.12 ERA in 46.2 innings, with a 39:4 K/BB ratio. The sinkerball pitcher has a 1.97 GO/AO ratio, and the low walk rate shows some impressive control. Harold Ramirez picked up his 21st stolen base of the year. Elvis Escobar looked like he could be on the same level as Ramirez this year, but so far he has a .242 average and a .585 OPS in 120 at-bats.   RK: GCL PIRATES Box Score Result: Pirates 7, Astros 0 Starting Pitcher: Neil Kozikowski, RHP (1.13) – 4.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0 HR Top Hitter: Enyel Vallejo, LF (.281) – 3-for-5, 2 2B, HR, 4 RBI Other Notable Performers: Austin Meadows, CF (.317) – 2-for-3, 2 BB Ulises Montilla, 2B (.280) – 2-for-4, 3B, RBI Game Notes: Neil Kozikowski threw a shutout for the third straight start. The right-hander has a 1.13 ERA in 16 innings over five appearances this year, with a 10:2 K/BB ratio. He has a .203 BAA and a 1.64 GO/AO ratio. Austin Meadows added two more hits and two more walks. Ulises Montilla has a four game hitting streak, going 5-for-16 with a triple and a homer in that stretch. Montilla was slumping for a while, after showing a lot of promise with the bat in the first month of the season. Enyel Vallejo hit his third homer of the year, and also added two doubles. All three homers have come in the last nine games. In his last ten games he has a .333/.364/.595 line in 42 at-bats with two doubles and three homers.
