He’s kept the hit total down with a .185 BAA. He’s striking out over a batter an inning with 54 strikeouts. However, his walk rate is too high, with 35 walks on the season. The result is that the lack of hits and the high strikeouts are countering the walks, but that might not necessarily carry over to the majors. Duke Welker gave up his first earned runs of the season. Tony Sanchez is now hitting for a .307/.413/.523 line in 88 at-bats.   AA: ALTOONA CURVE   Box Score Result: Altoona 6, Trenton 2 Starting Pitcher: Charlie Morton, RHP (1.93) – 4.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 2 HR Top Hitter: Charlie Cutler, C (.340) – 3-for-3, 3 RBI Other Notable Performers: David Bromberg, RHP (2-4, 4.65) – 5.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K, 0 HR Drew Maggi, LF (.278) – 3-for-4, 2B Game Notes: Charlie Morton made a rehab start with Altoona, throwing 61 pitches and 40 strikes. He has three more rehab starts ahead of him. David Bromberg was originally scheduled to start tonight, and came on after Morton. Bromberg threw five no-hit innings, allowing one walk and striking out six. Charlie Cutler is hitting for a .340 average with a .919 OPS, although he’s 26 and this is his fourth season spending time at the Double-A level. That said, he’s been providing a big boost for a struggling Altoona offense.   Gregory Polanco hit his fifth homer of the year. A+: BRADENTON MARAUDERS Box Score Result: Clearwater 6, Bradenton 3 Starting Pitcher: Robby Rowland, RHP (2-2, 4.54) – 5.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 HR Top Hitter: Gregory Polanco, CF (.292) – 1-for-4, HR Other Notable Performers: Jacob Stallings, C (.230) – 1-for-3, 3B, BB Chase d’Arnaud, SS (.000) – 0-for-3 Game Notes: Gregory Polanco hit his fifth homer of the year in his second game back since missing time with a wrist injury. Chase d’Arnaud started his rehab assignment with Bradenton, going 0-for-3. Matt Benedict threw three innings in relief, which means he’ll be going as a long reliever with Zack Dodson recently joining the rotation.   A: WEST VIRGINIA POWER West Virginia was rained out.
