Found May 18, 2012 on SF Lunatic Fringe:

It probably help Burriss's power, as well.

Sure, I post this after the Giants won by getting a lot of hits, but this goes back the last few weeks.

It is getting damn frustrating watching a lot of these guys, even the ones I have irrational man-love for like Schierholtz and Belt, swing at terrible pitches, and then let fastballs in the zone go by.  What are they looking for?

Now, since my parents (and multiple jobs) have told me not to just ***** at stupidity and offer “constructive, helpful feedback,” Here it is: Get those batters to the parks early, stand in while the pitchers who need to pitch on the side that day go, and have the batters call out the type of pitch it is before it reaches the plate.  If they call it wrong, five pushups.  If they don’t call it, three pushups.  That simple.

If that seems a little bootcamp for you…well, it is because it’s inspired by boot camp.  But let me tell you, negative reinforcement by push up is one hell of a motivator.

Now, of course, all pitchers are different, but the Giants rotation has all sorts of pitchers to learn from.  You’ve got Cain, who has the prototypical right-handed power pitcher, and Bumgarner, who is the prototypical left-handed power pitcher.  You’ve got Zito, who is the pitcher who gets by with breaking stuff, and Vogelsong, who specializes with control and change ups.  And then there’s Lincecum, a power pitcher coming from over-the-top, which is starting to become more common.

At the worst, it can’t hurt.  At least they’d be doing SOMETHING about this terrible hitting.

I hope Thursday’s revival is the start of something, but they have to do a lot more of it before I believe that.

The San Francisco Giants selected shortstop Joe Panik in the 1st round (29th overall) of the 2011 draft. He’s now working his way through the Giants farm system, and Giants fans hope he’s on fast track to the Big Leagues. Panik has been kind enough to sit down and do an interview with Steven Robles of SF Giants Rumors. This interview was taken place after batting practice on...

POSTGAME WRAP: Today’s Game Brought To You By E-Surance

The Giants got insurance runs. Now, normally, Giants games go one of three ways: -The Giants have a small lead, the offense shuts down, and the bullpen locks up the win -The Giants have a small lead, the offense shuts down, and the bullpen loses the game -The Giants never lead because the offense never booted. The hypothetical fourth option in the game of baseball would be: -Team...

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Brandon Crawford hit a two-run single for his first RBIs since April and the San Francisco Giants capitalized on shoddy fielding by St. Louis to give Matt Cain support on a rare shaky day as the Giants beat the Cardinals 7-5 on Thursday. St. Louis made three errors in a game for the second time this week with the most important coming in the sixth inning: Third...

That Golden Gate Bridge Patch

The Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary Patch Want to get that awesome Golden Gate Bridge patch the Giants are wearing?  They’re for sale from the GGB’s 75th Anniversary Store for a ridiculously reasonable price.  Seriously, I usually pay more than that for shipping.  Wait…I am paying more for shipping on that than for the actual patch! I blame UPS.  And rising gas prices...

Cardinals' errors lead to Giants' victory

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants have had defensive problems this season and know what it's like to make three errors in the game. So when the Cardinals were guilty of committing three miscues on Thursday, San Francisco took advantage of the extra opportunities. Brandon Crawford drove in a pair of runs, and although Matt Cain gave up more runs than usual, it was just enough run...

A Breakdown Of The SF Giants Super Premium Seats

The St. Louis Cardinals thumped the San Francisco Giants last night in Pac Bell or whatever the hell it’s called Park. They’ll tussle again today around 2p STL time. A long time ago I got a job offer in San Francisco. They even flew me out for a couple days to check out the city. The company with questionable taste even went so far as to bring in a real estate broker to talk...

Postgame Wrap: The Enemy’s Plate is Down

I hate the Bay Bridge Series. I really do. I’ve been very consistent with this opinion. It has nothing to do with my like or dislike of interleague play, or the fact that the Giants tend to play poorly, or the fact that Oakland Coliseum is a sad, forgotten hellhole of a stadium. No, I hate the Bay Bridge Series because I actually really like the A’s. Those of you who listen to...

Selig: Oakland move might be considered

Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig says it's up to Oakland owner Lew Wolff to decide whether to consider additional sites for a new ballpark for the Athletics, raising the possibility of a move from the Bay Area. Speaking Thursday after an owners' meeting, Selig said there's no timetable for resolving Oakland's dispute with the San Francisco Giants. The Giants are preventing...

In the second-to-last year of a seven-year, $126 million contract...
