If you didn’t see, the New York Mets got swept by the Astros this week in Houston. It was a three game series, which was three games too long. The Mets made guys like Bud Norris, Jed Lowrie, and Chris Johnson look like flat out all-stars. Even Brett Myers came in and made the Mets look silly.

Also, I never want to see Chris Schwinden on SNY ever again. He is just god awful. Nothing about his pitches are good, nor does he ever get any success while throwing them. Chris Johnson homered twice off Schwinden and later added two more hits to drive in a career-high six runs and lead the Astros to an 8-1 lead.

Schwinden, after the game stated: “I made a couple of bad pitches, and they got hammered,” Schwinden said. “I thought today was going to be a little different, but I left a couple of balls up in the zone, and it changed the whole day.”

You are terrible Schwinden. You didn’t make a couple of “bad pitches” you are just a bad pitcher. Enough said. Schwinden get off of my team!

The Mets are now 5-7 on the road, and 2.5 games out of first place.

Now, the Mets will fly back to New York and play the defending NL West champs, the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, the Mets seem to have the pitching advantage this weekend over the D-backs. Here are the pitching match ups this weekend:

Miley (3-0) Gee (2-2) Corbin (1-0) Santana (0-2) Cahill (2-2) Dickey (3-1)

I would say the Mets have the pitching advantages on Saturday and Sunday, but Gee always seems to keep them in the game. Santana and Dickey always give great efforts. So if the bats can come alive this weekend, the Mets will have a real chance to take at least two games in Queens. Let’s Go Mets!

Astros' Johnson finally hits first homer of season -- then adds another

Houston Astros third baseman Chris Johnson called it the best game of his professional career, and it's hard to argue with that. Johnson went off Wednesday, homering twice as part of a 4-for-4 day, ending a homerless drought that went back 104 at-bats to last year. Johnson hit a three-run shot off New York Mets rookie Chris Schwinden in the second inning and a two-run blast...

Johnson, Astros complete sweep against Mets

HOUSTON (AP) -- Chris Johnson had four hits, homered twice and drove in a career-high six runs to back up another solid outing by Wandy Rodriguez, and the Houston Astros beat the New York Mets 8-1 on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep. The win gave Houston its first series sweep of the season and first series win since the opening three games. Johnson's first homer of...

Chris Johnson, Astros, Sweep Away Mets

Today Chris Johnson drove in 6 runs (and two homers) to power the ‘Stros to a sweep of the Mets in their last series in Houston before the Astros become an AL squad.  Today wasn’t pretty, and I don’t think I’d ever had expected to say this going into the season, but this team is really going to miss Mike Pelfrey until Chris Young is ready for action. Chris Schwinden...

Astros 8, Mets 1

Chris Johnson had a pair of homers among his four hits and drove in a career-high six runs to back up another solid outing by Wandy Rodriguez, and the Houston Astros beat the New York Mets 8-1 on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep. The win gave Houston its first series sweep of the season and first series win since the opening three games. Johnson's first homer of the...

Astros' new secret weapon? Drawing walks

HOUSTON What was an atypical showcase of power overshadowed what was an otherwise routine offensive performance by the Astros. Jed Lowrie and Chris Snyder bashed multi-run home runs and staked left-hander J.A. Happ to an early lead that he didn't relinquish in the Astros' 6-3 victory over the Mets on Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park. Homers garner attention. They are...

From Left Field: The Worst Is Out Of The Way

After the Mets dropped three games to lowly Houston Astros, one thing appears clear: It can’t get any worse than that. Did you happen to see the Astros lineup the last three days? Jed Lowrie and Matt Downs are looked at as major offensive weapons. How did this team pull of a sweep? Well, at least we can look at it this way: The Mets got their lowest point out of the way this season...

Happ guides Astros to second consecutive win over Mets

HOUSTON -- Emboldened by an early lead courtesy of home runs by Jed Lowrie and Chris Snyder, Houston Astros left-hander J.A. Happ cooked up another quality start to make the advantage last in a 6-3 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday. The victory gave the Astros a two-game winning streak. Houston won the series with a game to spare, its first series win since April 6-8 against...

Astros 6, Mets 3

Chris Snyder hit a three-run home run and Jed Lowrie had a two-run shot to give the Houston Astros a 6-3 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday night. Lowrie's homer, off Jonathon Niese, which hit the inside of the foul pole in left field in the first inning, got things going for the Astros who have won the first two games of this three-game series. The Astros had lost six consecutive...

Long ball helps Astros get 2nd win over Mets

HOUSTON (AP) -- Chris Snyder hit a three-run home run and Jed Lowrie had a two-run shot to give the Houston Astros a 6-3 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday night. Losing To Lieutenant Leslie

This is why I don't waste a lot of time hoping for something with this team before they actually give me a reason to hope. You start out with a small sample size of a surprising start, then you go and get swept by the Houston Astros. And not just swept, dominated. Games two and three of this series were out of reach by the third inning, getting beat by the likes of Chris Snyder...
