Ah, those pesky Blue Jays. The Red Sox made things quite interesting in the 9th inning with Napoli tying it up, but Brett Lawrie provided the dagger in the 10th to push the Jays to a one run victory. Let's go back to the 3rd inning, where the Red Sox gave away one of the more careless runs you'll ever see. Speedster Rajai Davis hit a grounder up the middle, where Lester made a decent stab...but the throw to first was rushed underhanded and went past Napoli at first. Davis rounded second and was heading for third when Victorino decided to attempt and throw out one of the fastest players in the game. I think you can figure out the rest. So Davis reached on an infield single and scored as a result of throwing errors by Lester and Victorino. That's a play that will be looped on blooper reels for years to come my friends. It's just unfortunate that it ultimately cost the Sox a run that killed them later. Besides the horrendous throw to first, Lester wasn't bad last night. Let's hope he's finally turning things around. On 114 pitches, Lester threw 6.1 innings allowing six hits, three runs (two earned...althought the unearned was his fault), two walks, and struck out three. As mentioned earlier, Mike Napoli was his clutch self again in the 9th. Down 3-1 with two outs and a man on first, Napoli delivered an opposite shot to right field to tie it up. Napoli strikes out a lot as we all know, but he's been in some big spots this year and has rarely failed. He's going to be valuable down the stretch here folks, just you wait. Brandon Workman, who was the only relief pitcher in this game, went three strong innings but gave it up to Lawrie in the 10th on an infield single up the middle. The Sox finished up their series in Toronto tonight as Jake Peavy takes the mound, looking to bounce back from last outing. The Blue Jays counter with lefty veteran Mark Buehrle. First pitch is at 7:07pm. Box score
