The largest comeback in MLB history is 12 runs, most recently by the Cleveland Indians in 2001 against the Seattle Mariners. On 8/5/2001, they trailed 12-0 and 14-2 before winning 15-14 in 11 innings. The Detroit Tigers rallied from a 13-1 deficit to beat the Philadelphia Athletics on 6/18/1911. The other time a team rallied trailing by 12 runs was on 6/25/1925, where the Philadelphia Athletics came back trailing 15-3 to beat the Cleveland Indians. What I find most interesting about this game was the fact that it was 15-3 going into the bottom of the 7th and 15-4 into the bottom of the 8th. A 12 run comeback is impressive, no matter when the rally occurs. But, the Athletics 13 run 8th inning is worth the recap. As far as well known regulars playing in this game, outside of Hall of Famers Tris Speaker for Cleveland and Al Simmons for Oakland, there was a lack of star power in this game.
