Clay Buchholz, Red Sox Have Little Trouble ‘Playing It Cool’ on Cold Night in New York (Video)

Clay Buchholz made just one mistake against the Yankees on Wednesday night, and that was more than enough of a performance to beat the team New York sent out to face him. With the Yankees looking not quite like their former selves, Buchholz had no trouble limiting the Yanks to just one run over seven innings. The lone run came from a Travis Hafner home run, but the Red Sox offense...

Red Sox pound Yankees again

Recap: Sox continue winning ways, beat Yanks 7-4

What was considered to be a much anticipated match-up, turned out to be not much of a contest at all. In the second game of the 2013 season, Clay Buchholz took the mound for the Red Sox, while established veteran Hiroki Kuroda started for the Yankees. In the first inning, C Jarrod Saltalamacchia lined a timely two-out single to right field, putting the Red Sox on top quickly. In...

Jackie Bradley Should Have Started In Pawtucket

The title of this piece is going to make a lot of Red Sox fans upset.  As a passionate Sox fan myself, it isn’t exactly fun to write.  The subject is being debated everywhere but the conclusion is often wrong.  Much as we may not like it starting Jackie Bradley Jr. in Pawtucket would have been the right thing to do. If he was sent down, it wasn’t going to be a permanent banishment...

Red Sox-Yankees Live: Boston Aims to Make It Two in a Row Behind Clay Buchholz

3:50 p.m. ET: The Red Sox knew they wanted to get off on the right foot this season, but on Monday, they got more than even that with a strong 8-2 Opening Day victory over the Yankees. Jon Lester was clicking, Jackie Bradley Jr. was fulfilling expectations, and Boston put a W behind its talk of a fresh start in the first opportunity of the season. Clay Buchholz will be on the mound...

First good news of the season: Turncoat Trump boards Redsock bandwagon

Trump congratulates future Hall of Famer  Jackie Bradley Jr.

Four Bases: Red Sox 7, Yankees 4

If the Red Sox wanted to put the right foot forward after their season last year, this is a good start. The Red Sox won back-to-back games to start their 2013 campaign, the first time they have done that since 1999. On a cold night – game time temperature was 43 degrees Fahrenheit – the Yankees bats stayed cool. Here are the four bases from Game 2 of 162: First Base: Time will...

2013 Fantasy Baseball Rookie Report, Week 1: Gyorko, Bradley, Ryu

Welcome to the first 2013 installment of the Rookie Report. Each week I’ll highlight a few rookies who have consistent playing time, see how they’ve done and try to predict what we’ll see from them in the future. Also, since the minor-league season just started today, starting next week I’ll write up a few bullet points about several top minor leaguers to see how they’ve...

Question For Dan Shaughnessy Fans (Yes, They Do Exist)

Something I’m curious about. For those of you out there who enjoy Dan Shaughnessy, and I know you are out there, presumably you’re drawn to his style of ripping down athletes and teams and taking shots and carrying grudges. How do you feel when he writes columns which go to a hyperbolic level in the other direction, such as the ones from the last two days? Yesterday’s Jackie...

2013 Yankees: There must be a pony in there somewhere

It's gonna be a long season. Yesterday's Yankees' opener ticked me off for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is to see the major league debut of the highly touted outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. I am not envious of very much about the Red Sox, but I am envious that their fans can cheer on Bradley, who seems like a good dude, as well as third baseman Will Middlebrooks...

3 Stars of the game, Game 2

The Boston Red Sox are playing exceptional baseball right now against the Yankees. Im pretty sure that we could not have asked for a better 2 games from this team. The pitching has been fantastic and the hitting has been great as well. The team is certainly not making it easy for me to pick only 3 of them to be stars after each game. With the team performing great currently I was...

Jay-Z might represent Dustin Pedroia or Jackie Bradley Jr.

Remember the days when Scott Boras - sports agent extraordinaire - use to bend Red Sox management over a railing and demand whatever random excessive number they (Boras and client) decided was worthy of their John Hancock? Well it’s the same story only different characters will play the part of said sports agent. Roc Nation mogul Shawn Carter (a.k.a. Jay-Z) will venture his...

Your Morning Dump...where the buzz is back

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. The Red Sox opened the 2013 season in a big way with an 8-2 victory against the Yankees yesterday. But, something stood out that we haven't witnessed in awhile...passion. “Obviously there are two...
