Boston Red Sox righthander Daisuke Matsuzaka is hoping to return to the mound in June.
Matsuzaka, who underwent Tommy John surgery in June 2011, had a strong bullpen session Sunday, throwing hard and using his secondary pitches.
The 31-year-old Matsuzaka, who is entering the final year of his contract with Boston, finished 3-3 with a 5.30 ERA in eight games - seven starts - last season.
He won 33 games in his first two seasons with the Red Sox, including an 18-3 record in 2008, but is only 16-15 in the last three seasons.
