The Cincinnati Reds will get one of their best players back on Friday.  Brandon Phillips, who is nursing a sore forearm, confirmed he will return to the lineup as the Reds take on the St. Louis Cardinals heading into the weekend. C. Trent Rosencrans of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch says it wasn't just Phillips that confirmed the news of his return.  The Reds' manager, Dusty Baker, also said Phillips would be back on Friday. Both Dusty and Phillips say @datdudebp should be in the lineup Friday vs. the Cardinals — ctrent (@ctrent) June 5, 2013 Phillips has missed four games so far, and he will miss a fifth today as the Reds complete their series with the Colorado Rockies.  However, he will be returning at a key time.  June baseball matters, and the Reds will be facing the NL Central-leading Cardinals for a three-game set.  Coming into today, the Reds trail the Cardinals by just 2.5 games in the standings. Blogging for Susie Phillips was hit by a pitch on Sunday and has not played since.  The injury resulted in a bruise and a sore forearm, but fortunately no additional damage was done.   Phillips did have to be removed from that game and was immediately evaluated by doctors. The Reds will get an instant boost back in their lineup when Phillips returns.  He is hitting .296/.347/.481 this year.  The veteran All-Star has been missed as the Reds have lost three of the four games he's been out.
