The first thought when news broke of the Marlins’ huge salary dump was, “Of course.” The second thought was, “How could players be so stupid to sign there?” Well, maybe they’re not as stupid as they appear. Mark Buehrle and Jose Reyes — the two biggest names in the pending deal, who were both let go just a year into their loaded contracts with the Marlins — both asked Miami management about not being allowed to have no-trade clauses in their contracts when they signed, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. “Buehrle knew the Marlins’ history of dumping high-priced players, and it concerned him, according to a friend,” Rosenthal writes. “Team president David Samson, however, told both Buehrle and his wife, Jamie, that the team was committed to a long-term vision.” The Buehrles were concerned because they have young children — and also a pit bull that’s not legally allowed in their new destination, Toronto. Buehrle signed with the Marlins for four years and $58 million, turning

Is Baltimore Orioles LF Nolan Reimold Worth Waiting For?

The Baltimore Orioles had a couple of obvious weaknesses in 2012, and perhaps the biggest and most consistent was left field. The O’s have for the last three or so seasons have been waiting for Nolan Reimold to produce the way most scouts believe he can.   Reimold has shown spurts of being that everyday [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Jamie Moyer Is So Old...

If you hadn't already heard, Jamie Moyer turned 50 on Sunday and, naturally, the internets are a buzz with some fun facts about the lefty.  For example, should Moyer make an appearance in 2013, he'd join Satchel Paige and Jack Quinn as the only pitchers to ever appear in the bigs after their 50th birthday. And since Quinn's last appearance was just six days after...

Miami Marlins Fire Sale: Jose Reyes And Mark Buehrle Have No One To Blame But Themselves

Following the latest Miami Marlins fire sale that will send Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, Josh Johnson, John Buck and Emilio Bonfacio to the Toronto Blue Jays in yet another despicable move by team owner Jeffrey Loria, a couple of the players are speaking out and saying that management lied to them. MLB Rumors: Melky Cabrera Proves That Cheaters Really Can Prosper

Melky Cabrera cheated last season. He cheated Major League Baseball. He cheated the San Francisco Giants. He cheated the fans. He cheated everyone, and he got caught. But anyone who ever said that cheaters never prosper must have not been familiar with professional sports. After being suspended for 50 games and basically left for not by the Giants, Cabrera is about to sign a two...

2013 Blue Jays Projections: Melky Cabrera

In somewhat of a surprise move, the Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly inked outfielder Melky Cabrera to a two-year, $16M deal. Now finished with his 50-game suspension for PED use, questions remain about his performance going forward, but it's skill related stats -- not questions about strenght/endurance -- that keep me optimistic. Melky Cabrera - OF - TOR 2013 Age: 28...

Nolan Ryan Has No Business Doing Comedy

As Jamie Moyer turns 50 on Sunday, there are bound to be plenty of "dude is so old" posts out there on the internets. So, with that in mind, I'm going to keep this one brief. Moyer is so old he's the only active Major Leaguer who can tell you where he was when John F. Kennedy was assassinated. He's also so old that he's pitched in 50 different big league...

The Toronto Blue Jays have narrowed their managerial search down to Jim Tracy and Jim Riggleman, ESPN.com reported Saturday. The job opened up when John Farrell left to be the Boston Red Sox's new manager a month ago. Tracy resigned as Colorado Rockies' manager in October after the club finished 64-98. Riggleman has been managing the Cincinnati Reds' Class AA affiliate...

Considering fans wouldn’t go to Marlins Park if Miami resident Sofía Vergara stripped on the diamond, Jeffrey Loria was right to deal with the Toronto Blue Jays
