Miguel Tejada has reached an agreement to play for the Baltimore Orioles, reported Sunday. If Tejada, 37, passes his physical on Monday, he will begin to work out at an extended spring training in Florida. This will be Tejada's third stint with the Orioles, who signed him as a free agent after the 2003 season and again after the 2009 season. Last season, Tejada hit .239 with four homers in 91 games for the San Francisco Giants.

Tejada invited to work out for Orioles in Florida

Miguel Tejada has been invited to work out for the Baltimore Orioles at their extended spring training camp in Florida. Tejada will go to Sarasota, Fla., and take a physical for the team in addition to his workout. Orioles spokeswoman Monica Barlow says the sides have not agreed to a contract. The veteran infielder, however, is expecting more than a tryout. He tells The Associated...

Davis pinch hits as Orioles pitcher, gets win in 17th inning

The Orioles bullpen has been a strength throughout 2012. Chris Davis wasn't supposed to be a factor. The Orioles first baseman picked up the win Sunday, striking out two on 23 pitches in two innings of relief in the 9-6, 17-inning win. Davis featured a split-finger fastball, which he used to strike out both Adrian Gonzalez and Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Davis, who said...

I was aware of the streak. The fact never escaped me that the Giants hadn’t led in a game since before Lady Bird Johnson was a sexual position. And with a 1-0 deficit early in the game, it appeared I may have to turn the “We’re Going Streaking” section into an exercise in futility. Not today. 3-10 with runners in scoring position. Posey singles with a runner on third and...

Brewers search for positives Sunday vs. Giants

By MATT BEARDMORE, STATS WriterMatt Cain has been spectacular at AT&T Park this season. A little run support could help the San Francisco Giants right-hander get back into the win column. Cain will try to avoid losing a third consecutive start Sunday when the host Giants finish their series against the banged-up Milwaukee Brewers.Eleventh in the NL last season with a 2.80 home...

Allow MLB to Jump the Shark

Chris Davis Bringing High Heat Seriously, cast aside all pretenses and facades.  If the commissioner wants more interesting baseball near the end of the season, then he should be just as interested in compelling baseball at the beginning of the season.  Since Uncle Bud does not appear interested in returning my calls, I am left with no recourse but to write about my ideas...

Orioles 9, Red Sox 6(17)

First baseman Chris Davis struck out five times, grounded into a double play and then tossed two scoreless innings of relief after Baltimore ran out of pitchers, picking up the win as the Orioles beat Boston 9-6 Sunday in 17 innings. Adam Jones hit a three-run homer in the top of the 17th off Darnell McDonald, an outfielder the Red Sox put on the mound once their bullpen was empty...

GIFcap: Buck Showalter Congratulates Himself After Mark Reynolds Leaves Him Hanging

Late Spring Retraining

I’m a little worried about the state of the Giants going into the season’s first meeting with the first-place Dodgers.  (Ew.) But then again, the Dodgers have lost three of four, and two of those losses came against the Cubs. Hopefully the Dodgers play down to that level we know they stay at.

Orioles struggle on Monday Night; Rangers end five-game winning streak

The magic for the Orioles did not manifest itself tonight against the Texas Rangers in the start of their four-game set. After yesterday's win, everyone in the region was happy about the Orioles' recent run and were hoping for it to continue against the formidable Rangers; however, baseball can be a humbling game. There were no miracle comebacks, dazzling pitching performances...

Memorable position-players to take the mound

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox in a 17-inning marathon at Fenway Park yesterday afternoon, 9-6. Managers Buck Showalter and Bobby Valentine were required to go deep into their bullpen, and had to look outside it for help. After both skippers used 8 pitchers on their roster, they went to position players to [...]

Series Spotlight: Rangers at Orioles (May 7-10)

Getting this one up a little late today due to the extremely busy news day....sorry about that. By the time you're reading this, the first game in the series will have already begun (and possibly concluded), so we'll see how accurate my analysis is pretty quickly, right? Anyway, there is a very weak slate of games going during this week. There are a total of four series between...
