Espn -BOSTON -- The Red Sox are not sure yet whether they would have an interest in adding pitcher Derek Lowe, who was designated for assignment by the Indians on Wednesday, but the club is doing its due diligence on the matter, according to a team source. News today indicates that the Indians have designated for assignment former Red Sox, Derek Lowe. Lowe as you may remember threw a no-hitter April 27th 2002 against the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays, and was also a crucial piece to the 2004 World Series championship. During an interview earlier today on  98.5 The Sports HUB, Lowe said he would put Boston as his number one destination.Lowe, now at age 39, started the season 6-1 with a 2.05 ERA, but since then (May 15th), he has pitched rather poorly with an ERA rising to 5.52 and standing now at 8-10.Although adding Lowe would probably not help the Red Sox in the long run, it could have a slight chance of helping the Sox reach the postseason.
