Found April 26, 2013 on NESN.com:
While Ryan Dempster has been pitching well so far this season, the hurler has yet to snag a win in a Red Sox uniform. That could all change on Friday night, when the Sox host the 7-15 Astros in their second game of a four-game series at Fenway Park. Dempster, 0-2, 3.38 ERA, hasn’t allowed more than six hits or four earned runs in any of his first four starts with the Sox. Former Sox pitcher Erik Bedard goes for the Astros — he, too, is seeking his first win of the 2013 season. David Ortiz has five career hits (one home run) in his career against the lefty while Mike Napoli has three hits, two of which of the long ball variety. NESN’s coverage kicks off at 5:30 p.m. ET with Friday Night Fenway, while first pitch is expected just after 7:10 p.m. Check out the lineups below. Red Sox Jacoby Ellsbury, CF Jonny Gomes, LF Dustin Pedroia, 2B David Ortiz, DH Mike Napoli, 1B Daniel Nava, RF Will Middlebrooks, 3B David Ross, C Pedro Ciriaco, SS Ryan Dempster, SP Astros Robbie Grossman, CF Jose...

Your Morning Dump... Where I owe Dempster an apology (for now)

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. The commonly held belief when a pitcher jumps from the National League to the American League is that his numbers will suffer. The lineups are deeper. There’s no pitcher to feast on out of the No....

Ryan Dempster Had ‘Bugs Bunny Splitty,’ ‘Nintendo Stuff’ Going Against Astros, Says Catcher David Ross

Ryan Dempster finally picked up his first win as a member of the Red Sox on Friday and even his catcher was impressed. David Ross, who launched two home runs and played a big role in Boston’s 7-3 victory, lauded Dempster’s performance after the game. Ross hardly seemed surprised by Dempster’s outing, as he’s grown accustomed to seeing the right-hander provide quality starts...

Jonny Gomes' glovework makes him a keeper

Jonny Gomes may not be the Red Sox’ best batter as of now, but over the past two nights he has shown that he deserves to get some time on the field. Last night, Gomes caught a line drive over his head with one out and two runners on, preventing the Houston Astros from scoring again in the inning. This came after another stellar play the night before. Friday night Gomes made a...

Jonny Gomes Shows Off Impressive Glovework During Slugfest at Fenway (Video)

It’s rare to have a defensive highlight stand out in a game that featured 24 hits and 10 runs, but Jonny Gomes snuck one in with sprawling grab in left field to rob Houston’s Jason Castro and end the fifth inning. Gomes also pitched in at the plate, driving in his first run as a member of the Red Sox with a single in the eighth to secure a 7-3 win for Boston. After the game...

Recap: The Houston Astros didn't have a lot of fun tonight

Can I go home now?  (AP Photo/Michael Dwyer) How bad are the Houston Astros, you ask?  They made Ryan Dempster look like Clay Buchholz tonight as Boston cruised to an easy 7-3 victory. The Red Sox had no trouble trouble at the plate or on the mound tonight.  Their 5 pitchers combined for 14 strike outs, and they amassed 17 hits and 4 home runs with their bats. Dempster was...

Red Sox-Astros Live: Ryan Dempster Still Looking for First Win As Sox Welcome Old Friend Erik Bedard to Fenway

8 a.m. ET: Win No. 1 has been elusive. Ryan Dempster has pitched well for the Red Sox in his four starts, but he still hasn’t been able to pick up his first win of the season. The right-hander will have a great opportunity on Friday, though, as he’ll toe the rubber against the lowly Astros. Clay Buchholz and the Sox took care of business in the series opener on Thursday behind...

David Ross goes deep twice

Ryan Dempster's 10 strikeouts were nearly overshadowed by the offensive support his teammates provided in his first win as a member of the Boston Red Sox. Boston had 17 hits, including nine for extra bases, in a 7-3 win over the Houston Astros on Friday night as the Red Sox continued one of the best opening months in team history. Backup catcher David Ross cleared the Green...

Red Sox jinxed by cover of Sports Illustrated?

If you haven't yet read this weeks regional cover article of Sports Illustrated I strongly suggest to do so. It covers the Boston sports teams that have reacted to the recent tragedies that occurred during the Boston Marathon and how the city reacted. On the cover is Jonny Gomes, and while it truly is an honor to be placed on the cover of Sports Illustrated there is also the...
