Just how far can playing the matchups on free agency take you? Could a full season of waiver wire-caliber second basemen equal a year’s worth of Neil Walker? Those are the questions we seek to answer with another edition of our Spot Start Squad. Expanded Notes Wilin Rosario has four straight three-hit games. I would have started him against anyone not named Kris Medlen, and luckily he squares off against Chris Rusin. Rusin is not someone to fear. Like Rosario, Yonder Alonso is very hot, though he’s not Rosario-hot. I’ve been receiving an awful lot of questions about Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario...

Matt McBride homered and Chris Nelson had three hits for the Rockies, who won a matchup of two 94-loss teams. Carlos Torres (5-3) got the win after allowing one run in two innings of relief....
