From Sportress of Blogitude:

Yeah, that makes sense. If anyone thought that an elbow sprain that has had San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson on the shelf since April 13 would somehow lessen the weirdness coefficient that everything Brian Wilson does is multiplied by, well, they’d be wrong.

As you can see above, Wilson’s choice of vehicular conveyance is pretty much exactly what one would expect out of the outrageous, bearded pitcher. The image was snapped by Giants fan Stephen Goldblatt last Friday nearby AT&T Park and if there has been an image of late that typifies Wilsonian strangeness, this certainly is a worthy candidate. Just look at that. Fear the Beard, indeed.

And the shoes are pretty slick, too. The kicks really tie the whole image together.

Upon further review, Posey is NL MVP

Two years ago, Buster Posey was a little bit of a milder version of what Trout is doing this season. Though not quite as young as Trout, Posey took baseball by storm, won the Rookie of the Year Award and came in eleventh in MVP voting despite only playing in 108 games. Posey went on to lead that pitching staff into the playoffs and the team brought home a World Series trophy. Not...

Giants' Lincecum looks as if he's figured it out

Tim Lincecum is in a good place these days. With the playoffs apparently around the corner, Lincecum is doing his best pitching of the year when it counts the most. He threw shutout ball for six-plus innings in the San Francisco Giants' 6-3 win over the Rockies on Tuesday, and his stats are looking more Lincecum-like with every start. He has had an ERA topping 5.00 all season...

Giants' Sandoval has heated up ... finally

San Francisco's Pablo Sandoval, the NL's starting third baseman in the All-Star Game, had eight home runs at the break. He had none afterward. Until Wednesday, when he homered after 161 homerless at-bats. His first since July 8. More than two months ago. He remained the No. 3 hitter because manager Bruce Bochy was faithful with the Panda, knowing he homered 23 times last...

MLB not likely to bar Cabrera from NL batting crown

Major League Baseball isn't likely to prevent Melky Cabrera from winning the National League batting title, despite his 50-game suspension for a failed drug test. The San Francisco Giants outfielder is seven points ahead of Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen with a .346 average entering Wednesday. "We'll see how it all plays out," baseball Commissioner Bud Selig...

D-backs: Cabrera doesn't deserve batting title

PHOENIX -- By the time the Diamondbacks roll into San Francisco next Tuesday, suspended Giants star Melky Cabrera could have a stranglehold on the National League batting title. The achievement will not be universally hailed. That would be a shame, D-backs second baseman Aaron Hill said. Added D-backs closer J.J. Putz: If you test positive for a substance, you should not be able...

SF Giants Rumors: Josh Hamilton To The Giants, Maybe?

Buster Olney of ESPN.com says (via Twitter) one NL official thinks outfielder Josh Hamilton could end up in San Francisco next season. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says (via Twitter) if the Giants were to sign Hamilton, it would have to be to a high annual salary and short-term contract.Hamilton is phenomenal player that can help any team light up the scoreboard...

Giants 9, Rockies 2

Pablo Sandoval hit a three-run homer and a solo shot, and the NL West-leading San Francisco Giants reduced their magic number to clinch the division to four by beating the Colorado Rockies 9-2 on Thursday. Buster Posey also connected for the Giants to back another strong start by Barry Zito (13-8) as San Francisco completed a four-game sweep. Zito won his fifth straight decision...

Giants 7, Rockies 1

Matt Cain pitched eight solid innings to earn his career-best 15th win, Pablo Sandoval homered for his first time in two months and the San Francisco Giants moved another game closer to clinching the NL West title with a 7-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night. Sandoval's three-run shot in the first inning off Tyler Chatwood (4-5) was his ninth homer of the...

Giants 6, Rockies 3

Tim Lincecum pitched San Francisco one win closer to an NL West crown, and the Giants lowered their magic number to clinch the division to seven with a 6-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night. Lincecum (10-14) struck out six and walked two in 6 1-3 scoreless innings on a day the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers were postponed by rain in Washington. Marco Scutaro...

Padres-Giants Preview

It's likely only a matter of days before the San Francisco Giants clinch their second NL West title in three seasons. While that appears to be a foregone conclusion, Ryan Vogelsong's struggles are much harder to define. The Giants hope to inch closer to the division title and see improvement from Vogelsong on Friday night in the opener of a three-game set against the visiting...

Sandoval's two homers help Giants complete sweep of Rockies

SAN FRANCISCO -- If there was any question whether Pablo Sandoval's power stroke on Wednesday was a blip on the screen he proved on Thursday it was no fluke in the first inning. Then he did it again three innings later. Sandoval hit home runs from each side of the plate for the first time in his career as the Giants completed a four-game sweep of the Rockies with a 9-2 win...

Bruce Bochy Is Alright With Me

In support of Alex Smith’s lucky hat, Giants Manager Bruce Bochy wore a 49ers hat to his interviews today. And I think that’s just alright. Here is what Bochy had to say about it: “Alex supported us, so I’m going to support him,” Bochy said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. “They’re a great club and I’m honored to wear it.”  This one’s for you, Bruce.
