People just can’t seem to help themselves. Year after year we see teams stock up on players, or pay tons of money to superstars and everyone falls over themselves jumping on the bandwagon. We saw it with the Miami Marlins last season, and this year we are seeing it with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays traded for Josh Johnson, Mark Buehrle, and Jose Reyes from the 69 win Marlins, and for some reason that was supposed to make the Blue Jays, a team that hasn’t been to the playoffs in 20 years, the team to beat in the AL East. Ok, sure they also added RA Dickey, a guy who had one good season and is almost 40. I kept trying to tell people that the Blue Jays weren’t serious contenders and that adding a bunch of players from a bad baseball team wasn’t going to catapult them. Now the Blue Jays sit at 9-14 and in last place in the AL East.
