The Blue Jays’ five biggest hits of the 2025 regular season

Amid what feels like the five longest days of the season, the Blue Jays must wait until Saturday to see who they’ll face in the ALDS. Even though the regular season is in the rear-view mirror, fans are still basking in the afterglow of a successful Blue Jays regular season.

Thanks to winning a thrilling game 162 this past Sunday, the Blue Jays wrapped up their seventh AL East title in franchise history, their first in 10 years and their first AL East-clinching effort at home since 1992. Regardless of what happens from here, it’s a season people won’t soon forget.

To tell the tale of the Blue Jays’ 2025 season, you have to include the heroic efforts by some of their biggest hitters (and even a few you’d least expect) who came up huge in big spots this year. Considering the stakes and the game situations, these were the biggest regular-season hits by Blue Jays position players.

5. Bo Bichette comes off the bench for a clutch HR

Let’s kick off the list with the sole pinch-hit appearance by Bo Bichette from May 28. Bichette came off the bench in a 0-0 game at the top of the ninth inning to change the game with one swing of the bat.

With a 26-28 record, Toronto had been scuffling, having just been swept by the Rays in Tampa and was in danger of losing two out of three games to the Texas Rangers.

The Blue Jays didn’t have an answer for the Rangers’ pitchers, but Bichette casually strolled to the plate and came up clutch with a go-ahead dinger.

4. Addison Barger’s walk-off homer to beat the Dbacks

Hitting back-to-back jacks to end a ball game doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it changes the complexion of a game in an instant. Trailing the Diamondbacks at home 3-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Blue Jays faced Shelby Miller for the final outs of the game.

Bichette set the stage with a game-tying solo shot, but Addison Barger put the cherry on top with his massive home run into the second deck at Rogers Centre. This was one of nine walk-off victories for the Blue Jays in 2025.

3. Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s game-tying single against the Astros

Don’t feel bad if you’re a Blue Jays fan and had no hope they would win this game. Up until the fifth inning, the Blue Jays had five hits total, and the only run they scored was courtesy of George Springer’s solo home run. But by the time the ninth inning rolled around, the Blue Jays went to work.

Alejandro Kirk started with a walk, followed by a single from Ernie Clement and a walk by Tyler Heineman. Just a few days after he was claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Isiah Kiner-Falefa delivered his biggest offensive contribution of the season: a game-tying two-run single.

This set the stage for a walk-off single by Tyler Heineman in the bottom of the tenth inning, wrapping up one of the most dramatic of the Blue Jays’ 49 comeback wins on the season.

2. Nathan Lukes’ go-ahead home run vs the Rays

With the New York Yankees breathing down their necks, the Blue Jays had little room for error during the final week of the regular season. After dropping two of three against the Boston Red Sox early in the week, the Blue Jays were facing a must-win situation to hold serve against the Yankees.

Outfielder Nathan Lukes was the hero on the day, coming up with the biggest hit of his career: a two-run home run off Adrian Houser, which would hold as the eventual game-winner over the Rays. After 12 years as a career minor leaguer, Lukes broke through with an impressive campaign in 2025 and one of the Blue Jays’ biggest hits on the season.

1. Alejandro Kirk’s grand slam from game 162

At first glance, a 13-4 win on the last day of the 2025 regular season might not seem like it had any drama, but it was jam-packed with theatrics. If the Blue Jays won, they could secure the American League East title. And they wasted no time in jumping all over Rays starting pitcher Ian Seymour.

After punctuating one of the most demoralizing losses of the season by getting thrown out at first base on a ball to the outfield, Alejandro Kirk said, “Oh, hell no,” and finished the year with the ultimate redemption arc. His first-inning grand slam from game 162 gave the Blue Jays a 5-1 lead early, which ended up being the game-winner in a 13-4 blowout.

For good measure, Kirk chipped in a double and a two-run homer, finishing with a career-high five RBIs in that game. With one swing of the bat, Kirk cemented his legacy with the biggest hit of the 2025 regular season for the Blue Jays.

It should be put on the Mount Rushmore of the best Blue Jays regular-season moments, along with the “RUSSELL RUSSELL RUSSELL” home run by Russell Martin from 2015.
