Rick Porcello didn’t have his best outing, he gave up 7 hits and 4 runs in the 4 innings he pitched. The Tigers somehow pulled off their 3rd in a row and they got some unexpected help from the Cleveland Indians  who beat the White Sox 2 games in a row to give the Tigers a one game lead over the White Sox. The Tigers would find themselves trailing to the Kansas City Royals 4-1 in the 4th inning, Porcello let the Royals score 3 runs in the 3rd and he gave up another run in the 4th.

The Tigers would launch their own 4th inning charge. Alex Avila got things going with a 2 run blast and Austin Jackson hit a home run of his own to tie the game at 4. The Tigers would get the winning run in the 8th when Jhonny Peralta grounded out to 3rd that would drive in Don Kelly. Now that Detroit is on top of the American League Central can they stay there? With 7 games left in the regular season the Tigers have to find a way to hold on.

Do you think the Tigers will finish in the lead in the A.L. Central? Let us know, leave your comments below….

Detroit Tigers: It Maybe Time to Cut Ties With Rick Porcello

Miguel Cabrera Gets Robbed: a Tale of Consequences

Science is neat. In many scientific experiments, you can run trials, generate results, slightly change the conditions, run trials, and generate other results. Then you can compare those results to measure the effect of the change that you made. I used to work in a neuroscience lab with fruit flies, and one of the first projects to which I was assigned attempted to measure the draw...

Why is Triple Crown feat so rare?

No hitter has won baseball's Triple Crown since Carl Yastrzemski in 1967. You probably knew that already. Here, though, is an even more telling piece of information about one of the hardest achievements in professional sports: Until Detroit's Miguel Cabrera recently held the American League lead in batting average, home runs and RBI, only one player since Yaz -- Dick Allen...

Re-inventing the AL MVP race

Miguel Cabrera and Mike Trout. The AL MVP race is pretty much a two-horse race at this point. It’s the explosive rookie phenom vs. the man chasing the elusive Triple Crown. Almost overnight, it seems every sports media outlet in existence has their cameras trained...
