We would like to give a tip of the cap to Torii Hunter for his heads up play in last night’s game against the Twins, but we rather point out the terrible play of Minnesota. Filling in for Joe Mauer, who is on the DL with a concussion, Ryan Doumit couldn’t handle a pitch from Caleb Thielbar. The high fastball, which was strike three and would have ended a Tiger’s threat, somehow got by him which then moved the runners up and allowed Prince Fielder to make a run at first base. Once Doumit got hold of the ball, he attempted to throw Fielder out at first, which he didn’t. During this scramble, Thielbar forgets to cover home plate, and just watches the chaos. With nobody at home, Hunter scored. Watch the maddening lack of defense. Pretty much sums up the season the Twins are having.

Twins place Joe Mauer on seven-day concussion DL

Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony is becoming a big fan of Major League Baseball's seven-day concussion list. The team placed franchise-face Joe Mauer on it Tuesday a week after fellow catcher Ryan Doumit spent a week out of the lineup in a similar situation. Mauer took multiple foul balls off his mask in Monday's loss to the Mets and was scratched from the lineup...

Twins All-Star catcher Joe Mauer visited a concussion specialist at the Mayo Clinic and has been cleared to begin light exercises. Torii Hunter Steals Home…From Second Base

Last night, Torii Hunter took advantage of a weak link.  Noticing a passed ball on the third strike of Prince Fielder’s at-bat – with two outs, mind you – Torii took off from second base to third.  And he didn’t stop.  He kept running until he scored and the Minnesota Twins – the team Torii had played for during the majority of his career – could not have been more...

Hunter uses his "veteran-ness" to get the job done

Detroit -- Torii Hunter stood at second base, pumping his fists and exclaiming excitedly. It was the bottom of the seventh inning and Hunter had just hit the go-ahead two-RBI double to give the Tigers (74-52) their first lead over the Minnesota Twins, 2-1. For 6 23 innings, Kevin Correia had limited the Tigers to singles and kept them off the scoreboard. With Andy Dirks at second...

Twins place Joe Mauer on the 7-day concussion list

The Minnesota Twins organization is no stranger to concussions.  Justin Morneau's concussion from a couple years ago still lingers in the thoughts of the front office.  The what-ifs that arise out of the handling and aftermath of that confusion surely haunt the Twins.  They did not necessarily mishandle Morneau's concussion, but there wasn't as much focus on such...

Twins' Mauer scratched from game

Minnesota Twins first baseman Joe Mauer was scratched from the lineup against the Detroit Tigers because he experienced dizziness Tuesday night in batting practice. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said earlier in the day that Mauer was probably not going to catch during the three-game series in Detroit, adding he planned to play him as a first baseman or designated hitter. Mauer was...

Report: Torii Hunter and Albert Pujols nearly got into fight last season

Things haven't exactly gone as the Los Angeles Angels hoped they would over the past couple of seasons. The high price Angels have failed to put together a contending team despite signing several players to big time contracts and part of the reason might be because of a lack of team chemistry. One of the players who was signed to a massive deal and has failed to live up to expectations...

The meeting details of which were provided to by several...
