There is no reason to suggest they won’t do the same tonight, especially since they were forced to use a combined 11 pitchers, weakening both bullpens. Despite this offensive display, Dan Haren (2-5, 3.76 ERA) has the fourth-lowest run support average in the majors (2.23 runs). If that holds up, he’ll need to duplicate his last effort, in which he tossed a four-hitter while striking out a career-high 14 in a 3-0 win. But that was against the Mariners, and tonight he faces the Yankees. Before that stellar performance, Haren had posted a 5.79 ERA in losing his previous four starts.
