Aaron Hicks ended an 0-for-13 skid with a tiebreaking RBI single in a two-run seventh inning, rallying the Minnesota Twins past the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 on Sunday. J.J. Hardy homered for the Orioles, who dropped the final two games of the weekend set. It was their first series loss to the Twins since July 2010. Trailing 3-2, the Twins started their comeback when Jason Hammel (1-1) plunked Trevor Plouffe on the left elbow leading off the seventh and Wilkin Ramirez followed with a single. After Brian Dozier's sacrifice bunt, pinch-hitter Chris Parmelee tied it with a sacrifice fly and Hicks got his go-ahead hit. Anthony Swarzak (1-0), activated from the disabled list before the game after missing time with fractured ribs, pitched 1 1-3 innings of scoreless relief. Glen Perkins pitched the ninth for his second save. Hardy's two-run homer gave the Orioles the lead in a three-run second. Adam Jones drew a leadoff walk and one out later, Hardy lined a changeup from Pedro Her...

Pelfrey, Twins look to reignite winning streak

Mike Pelfrey had a splendid debut for the Minnesota Twins while winning his first start since Tommy John surgery. Jeremy Guthrie was just as strong in his first outing this season for the Kansas City Royals. The right-handers will try to build on those efforts as their teams continue a three-game series in Kansas City on Tuesday night. Pelfrey made three starts for the New York...

Right-hander Cole De Vries will be placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday, with left-hander Pedro Hernandez taking his spot in the rotation. Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts was injured during Thursday’s contest against the Tampa Bay Rays. The veteran had to be assisted off the field, and fans prepared for the worst-possible news considering Roberts’ lengthy injury history. What you need to know about Chris Davis

AL BEast Notebook – April 6 Orioles games have become must-watch TV with the way first baseman Chris Davis has been hitting. Much has been said already but here are some things that stick out to me. - Only two other players in history have hit a home run and had three runs batted in four straight games: Lou Gehrig and Bill Dickey (75 years ago). They both did it five in a row....

Baltimore Orioles Chris Davis Slugging His Way to History

The Baltimore Orioles were the darlings of Major League Baseball last season after moving out of the cellar to the post season for the first time in years. If Chris Davis can keep it up the Orioles should be able to contend...

Now talking smack against the Red Sox: Adam Jones. With the Orioles and Red Sox having only a short history of bad blood between them, and with both expected to be picking up the scraps in the American League East this year, trash talk heading into the teams’ first meeting wouldn’t appear to be in the cards. But Jones is providing just that as Baltimore prepares to face Boston...

Red Sox beat O's in home opener

The Baltimore Orioles went through the final two months of 2012 without losing three games in a row, and they never fell below .500 last season while making an improbable return to the playoffs. Ladies and Gentleman. Welcome to Fenway Park. Those words will always mean something special. The Red Sox come into the home opener in first place in the American League East. It is the first time they have come into a home opener...
