MINNEAPOLIS Trevor Plouffe is heading to the disabled list. Again. On the same day the Twins third baseman was activated from the 7-day concussion DL, Plouffe injured his left calf during pregame warmups on Wednesday. He was scratched from the lineup and was not in the lineup Thursday. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Plouffe will land on the 15-day DL due to his strained calf. Minnesota has not yet announced the move as the Twins are waiting for outfielder Chris Colabello to arrive in Minneapolis. Colabello was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday to make room for Plouffe on the 25-man roster. Now the two will flip sides again once Colabello arrives. "We're waiting for our call-up to get here, and when he gets here we'll put him on the roster," Gardenhire said of Colabello. "He's not here yet. He's somewhere out there in flying land, trying to get here." Plouffe missed seven days on the concussion DL after he was kneed in the head during a play at second base in Atlanta. Despite that, his recent DL stint is not retroactive to when he landed on the 7-day DL, Gardenhire said, since it's a different injury. That means he'll miss an additional 15 days on top of the seven he already missed. "We looked into that three different times, trying all the different arguments that he hasn't played," Gardenhire said. "Even though he was activated yesterday he still hasn't played since the concussion. They have a special ruling for that, which sucks. It's a bad rule." Meanwhile, Colabello is back in the majors for reinforcement on the Twins' bench. The 29-year-old rookie is a seven-year veteran of the Canadian-American League and played in five games for Minnesota before he was optioned. He went just 1-for-11 at the plate with six strikeouts. Twins turn back the clock: Both the Twins and Brewers will be wearing throwback uniforms for Thursday's series finale. Minnesota will don the 1948 St. Paul Saints jerseys, while Milwaukee will wear the Brewers jerseys from the same year. For Twins catcher Joe Mauer, wearing the Saints uniform carries extra meaning. Mauer grew up in St. Paul and lived just a few blocks from where the team used to play their games at Lexington Park. "I'm sure my family and myself will be visiting the pro shop to get some gear," Mauer said. "I know one of the things they were showing was the jackets that said Lexington Park.' I grew up on Lexington Parkway, probably about five blocks from the stadium. That's pretty cool for me and my family. I remember my grandpa talking about the ballpark down there. It is pretty special." Minnesota currently has a former St. Paul Saint on the roster in left-handed reliever Caleb Thielbar. The Randolph, Minn., native made his major league debut on the Twins' latest road trip but has yet to pitch at Target Field. If he makes his home debut Thursday, he'll do so wearing the jersey of his former team and against his former organization, the Milwaukee Brewers. Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter.
