Trouble in the Bay: Pablo Sandoval Could Be DL Bound
BY JEREMY DAVID CANNON | PUBLISHED 6/11/2013
Ever since June began, the defending champion San Francisco Giants have been having a problem keeping their star third baseman healthy.
And that all came to a head Saturday night in a demolishing 10-5 victory over the first place Diamondbacks. To add to the drama, manager Bruce Bochy moved Sandoval from his coveted third spot in the order. After singling in the second inning, the crowd witnessed Sandoval visibly wincing in pain as he ran up the line. It was the same injury he experienced last week for a couple days apparently aggravating a left-foot strain.
However, he stayed in the game. But at the top of the third inning, Sandoval grounded into a double play and was taken out of the game.
And now according to Bud Gracie of the Bay Area News Group, Giants president Larry Baer says Pablo Sandoval has hairline fracture in foot.

It's an unfortunate situation for a team needing his offense in a division seemingly wide open. Prior to this month was a struggle for Sandoval who is hitting .289 for the year, but for May went .243 with 15 strikeouts and only 4 homers (he did have 15 RBI's). However in his 4 June games he's hitting .308 with a .615 OPS and only 1 K.
