Video: Jeff Crews: Game of a Lifetime Seen here is the amazing story of Ohio native and lifelong Reds fan Jeff Crews. Crews passed away due to brain cancer on July 4 of this year, but not before witnessing Homer Bailey's no-hitter against the San Francisco Giants, the same day Crews and his family were also treated as guests at Great American Ball Park by Joey Votto. Oh, did I mention Crews was also on hand in Pittsburgh when Bailey threw his other no-hitter last September? Yeah, not even Hollywood can write a script like this.

Cincinnati Reds: It’s past time for team to fire Dusty Baker

Loyal readers are cognizant that I don’t believe Dusty Baker is a quality baseball manager. In fact, I’ve written about it multiple times – though not recently. Following his second consecutive early postseason exit Tuesday night, it’s high time for the axe to fall in southwest Ohio. Do you need reasons why Baker should be fired? I’ve got them: • Consider the Reds arguably...

WATCH: Todd Frazier makes great catch going into camera well

Johnny Cueto is getting absolutely pounded early on in Pittsburgh, allowing three runs in the first three innings and getting so rattled by a raucous PNC Park crowd that he dropped the ball right out of his hand while preparing to throw a pitch. The score could be a lot worse than 3-0 through three if it weren't for Reds third baseman Todd Frazier. With two on and two out in...

A dozen reasons why Reds will emerge victorious in Pittsburgh

Regardless of the outcome of Tuesday's monumental Wild Card game between the Reds and Pirates at PNC Park, fans of both teams will be going crazy, but for very different reasons, obviously. For the Pirates, Tuesday's game marks the end of an unfathomable streak of futility, as Pittsburgh will play host to its first postseason game since 1992. One can only imagine the kind...

Cincinnati Reds' second baseman Brandon Phillips left Saturday afternoon's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fifth inning after fouling a ball off his left shin. PNC Park and Johnny Cueto: What did sweeping the Reds get the Pirates?

When the Pirates started their weekend series with the Reds last Friday, it was clear that home field advantage was on the line. What we didn't know at the time was that by clinching home field advantage a day early with easy wins on Friday and Saturday, the Pirates also changed their mound opponent tonight from Mat Latos to Johnny Cueto (the Reds say that the reason they scratched...

Reds End Season

The Reds faced a familiar foe in the wild-card play-in and their season-ending woes continued to limit their post season to only one game, a 6-2 loss at Pittsburgh. Johnny Cueto was ineffective and the Pirates never looked back after taking a second inning lead from two homers.

Doug Glanville says one-and-done playoff format bad for baseball

On the eve of the most important game the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates will have played all year, a debate rages on about the legitimacy of playing a winner-take-all Wild Card game in the first place. It seems silly for teams to endure spring training and a grinding 162-game schedule only to be rewarded with one chance to win and advance. But that is exactly where all...
