Mark Trumbo didn't win it all at tonight's Home Run Derby, but he definitely put on a show.  There were Trumbombs a plenty, but the one that stood out amonst them all was his blast that landed on top of the big scoreboard in left field of Kauffman Stadium.

It may not have been the longest dinger of the evening, but it was definitely one of the most visually impressive.  Unfortunately for Mark, it also wasn't good enough to advance the Trumbomber to the final round of the Derby, not that it looked like anyone was going to beat Prince Fielder in this one.

Good job, Trumbo.  Now, kick butt in the All-Star Game and get back to Anaheim and preferably don't come back with a messed up swing.  That would be super.

Trout's arrival kick-started Angels into contention

The Los Angeles Angels' first half featured an old double-play combo. "We've been, in the first half, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," manager Mike Scioscia said Sunday. "We know the really poor start that we got off to. We also know the untapped potential that was in this team early. We're seeing it start to surface." The Texas Rangers -- with the...

Report: Zack Grienke Drawing Interest From At Least Four Teams Including Angels, Rangers

Zack Grienke is a man in demand this summer and, if the Brewers decide to ship him out before the trade deadline, could be commanding a handsome return. The Angels and Rangers have jumped into the fray, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, joining the Orioles and the Braves in their interest in the right-hander. Greinke, 28, is set to become a free agent after the season ends...

BP Unfiltered: Scott Kazmir's Theoretically Possible Comeback Began Sunday by Sam Miller

Scott Kazmir pitched for the Sugar Land Skeeters on Sunday. It was his first outing with the independent league team, and the first time he has pitched since he retired one batter and allowed four runs in the Dominican Winter League.  No box scores online, so far as I can tell, but there's a game story on the Skeeter's website.  Former two-time MLB All-Star Scott...

Halos ready to battle for AL West after break

ANAHEIM, Calif. The Angels hit the All-Star break in perfect stride, with a pair of weekend victories, the best record in the major leagues over the past two months and a collective sense that the best is yet to come. But a four-day respite from the grind of the American League West also comes at a welcome time. With almost half a season left to play and the Texas Rangers still...

Angels 6, Orioles 0

Brad Mills pitched five innings of three-hit ball in a spot start for the injured Dan Haren after getting called up from the minors, and the Los Angels Angels got home runs from Albert Pujols, Erick Aybar, Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo in a 6-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. Mills (1-0) threw 88 pitches on three days rest in his Angels debut with six strikeouts and no...

Looking at the Angels trade chips for the deadline

We spend so much time combing through the rumors mill looking for players that the Angels can acquire at the trade deadline, but seldom ever do we fans actually think about what our team has to offer.  This is a problem not unique to the Angels, just about every fan base is guilty of it and why we see so many stupid fan trade proposals out there (Castro and Garza for Trout, really...

Game Recap 7/8/2012: Our Turn - Angels 6, Orioles 0

How does it feel, rest of baseball?  Finally, the Angels are on the positive end of having an unknown starter come in and baffle the lineup based sheerly on being an unknown quantity. What I really can't wait for is everyone to start clamoring for Mills to immediately be crowned as a full-time member of the rotation.  Because I was just thinking that the Angels really need...

Trout highlights LA's All-Star Game showing

Mike Trout couldn't have enjoyed a better night for his first All-Star Game. The Angels rookie got a single off New York Mets knuckleballer RA Dickey, stole a base and caught a fly ball in left field. All in all, he couldn't have asked for anything more. Trout and teammates Jered Weaver and Mark Trumbo all got playing time Tuesday, as did Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw...

MLB Midseason Awards

The first half of the baseball season has come and gone, and so we pour out some of our malt beverage and bow our heads in silence in honor of the eighty-five or so games that have passed for each team. Or we could just pick some mid-season awards. THE WHY-DID-THEY-WAIT-SO-LONG-TO-CALL-HIM-UP AWARD (ROOKIES) American League: Mike Trout – Los Angeles Angels National League: Bryce...

David Ortiz Dishes Out Advice to Jose Bautista, Mark Trumbo While Wearing Camera During Home Run Derby (Video)

David Ortiz knows how to have a good time at the All-Star Game, and he's no slouch at the Home Run Derby, either. Big Papi wore a Looxcie camera during Monday's festivities for WEEI.com and the footage offers a first-person look at Jose Bautista putting on a show. It's no Being John Malkovich, but it's still pretty cool to see what Papi is seeing as he makes his way...
