via reader Jeff Reader Jeff treated himself to a taco affectionately known as a “Baco” at Fifth Third Field in Comstock Park, Michigan.  The home of the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Single-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers offers a bacon-shelled taco for $6.00.  When the Baco debuted on It’s Always Sunny in Detroit, 88% of you said you would try one (vote here if you haven’t). After Jeff treated himself, he treated us to a rundown of his Baco experience. My family & I went to a Whitecaps game on Sunday. The weather was great, there was just over 6,000 on hand (a decent crowd for a minor league game), and my son actually understood he was going to a baseball game this time. But let’s be real here: the real reason why I had been bugging my wife to go to a game the last 2 months was to try the “Baco.” A taco with the shell completely made of bacon. For $6.00, you get one Baco, and your choice of salsa or sour cream. “Do you have any taco sauce?” I asked. It was definitive “no.” Umm….ok. No taco sauce available for a taco. “We can put more bacon on it, if you’re not interested in salsa or sour cream.” The worker said. I smiled, and said “I’ll take salsa.” It was no “Miggy’s medium Salsa”, but it complimented well. It wasn’t juicy and tomato-y like bad salsa at a cheap Mexican restaurant. The shell was surprisingly tough, yet breakable when I took bites….almost like a normal hard shell. It was almost like they wrapped the bacon around a stenciled frame, and then pulled the frame out right before they cooked it. That was my biggest worry – that the shell would crumble the minute I squeezed the shell as I took a bite. Overall, it was definitely enjoyable. The bacon was flavorful: soft enough to bite, but robust enough not to collapse. I give it a 7.5 out of 10…only because there was no taco sauce. I understand this isn’t Taco Bell here, but c’mon…step up to the plate, Whitecaps. Our reaction: Knocking off 2.5 may be a tough deduction for the lack of a taco sauce for a taco.  However, it sounds like this Baco thingy is a success.  I kinda want one right now.  So, who wants to head to Comstock Park with me?!
