Sometimes things get a little fuzzy after a long day at the pub with an East Coast road game that starts at 10:30 in the morning. Here’s a friendly reminder of what you might have missed while you were (day) drinking. The Padres shutout the Atlanta Braves 4-0 to wrap up their season series yesterday. The Friars (68-80) won 5 out of 6 meetings with the Braves this season. Burch Smith had a no-hitter going through the first batter of the sixth inning, when Braves’ starter Julio Teheran managed to get one to roll right up the middle. Smith pitched 7 innings, giving up just 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 10. Will Venable stole his 20th base of the season and later scored on a Jedd Gyorko single in the sixth. Chase Headley hit a two-run home run to make the score 3-0 in the same inning. Tommy Medica hit another solo home run in the seventh to close out the scoring.
