Worley sits with arm trouble.Vance Worley will not start for the Phillies in tomorrow’s opener against the Chicago Cubs on the road. He sits with arm soreness, according to multiple reports. No word yet if he is heading to the DL, but Kyle Kendrick will get the start.Joe Savery is on his way up from Lehigh Valley and will accompany the Phillies on their road trip, according to Matt Gelb. That does not necessarily mean Worley goes to the DL, as another player can be optioned. Worley told Todd Zolecki he isn’t worried about it. Maybe Worley isn’t concerned, but you never want to hear arm soreness connected to one of your starting pitchers. Especially when it’s those starting pitchers keeping you in games.

Jake Diekman Could Signal A Bright Future for Phillies’ Bullpen

Jake Diekman was impressive in his Major League Debut as he picked up the win for the Phillies. Diekman could be a key piece for the future of the Phillies' bullpen. It was the same old story for Cliff Lee. Eight innings of one run baseball and this team still couldn’t get him the win. It seems as though this starting rotation is completely snakebitten and unable to get solid...

Philadelphia Phillies storyline: core value

Cliff Lee selected the Philadelphia Phillies for another reason besides the ones he stated. Jonathan Papelbon felt the same way and Doc Halladay desired a trade here. What they notice and understand is normal to them, and they think everybody sees their obvious. TAL'S HANDY CAPS NITECAP INSIGHT Centerpiece Update:  Philadelphia Phillies storyline: tomorrow’s guarantee ...

Cub Bats Rock Fitch Park

Javier Baez (solo HR and a two-run single), Jeimer Candelario (two-run triple and an RBI single), and Danny Lockhart (two-run single and an RBI single) drove-in three runs a piece, Xavier Batista doubled twice, singled, and scored a run, and Micah Gibbs reached base four times on two singles and two walks and scored two runs, leading the Cubs to an 11-3 thumping of the Rockies in...

Are The Phillies Misusing Jonathan Papelbon?

Jonathan Papelbon has been sharp in his debut season with the Phillies thus far. He has allowed just four runs in his first 15 innings of work (2.40 ERA) and continues to blow away hitters, notching 18 strikeouts already. He was unavailable Monday afternoon, though — after throwing the past three nights consecutively, including with a four-run lead in Sunday’s game (+0.01 WPA...

Phillies' Worley placed on DL

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Vance Worley was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 12, with right elbow inflammation. The team isn't sure on the severity of the injury, but Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told reporters that more should be known. The 24-year-old posted a 3.07 ERA in his first seven starts. He will be replaced by Kyle Kendrick,...

Phillies Walk Off On Pence Home Run

Hunter Pence redeems himself with walk-off home run to power Phillies to 4-3 win in 10. Phillies vs. Astros 5/15/12 Quick Hits: Coming into today's game, Cliff Lee had not pitched a winning decision since September 26, 2011. The Children Are The Future-Cubs Minor League Update Sponsored by Ortho Home Defense

Iowa Anthony Rizzo just keeps mashing as he hit his 12th HR of the year. When he gets here and LaHair moves to LF it might be an interesting offense to watch. Brett Jackson got on base once and made the most of it by stealing 2 bases. Jay Jackson has been moved to the [...]

Out of the Batter's Box - Phillies earn second home series win of season

Cole Hamels was good yesterday. Hey, he should have been with the extra rest after being suspended last week. With yesterday's 3-2 win against the San Diego Padres, the Phillies picked up just their second home series win of the season (and first since taking two of three from Miami from April 9-12). So far the Phillies are 7-9 at Citizens Bank Park. If Charlie Manuel really...
