Pro Sports Daily:
CC Sabathia’s road to recovery took another positive turn when he threw off a mound for the first time on Monday, and while the Yankees believe it will be another six weeks before the lefthander returns to action, Sabathia is hoping to beat that estimate.
After throwing 25 pitches — all fastballs and curveballs — on Monday, Sabathia will throw another bullpen session on Wednesday, increasing his pitch total while throwing all of his pitches.
“So far, so good,” Joe Girardi said. “He came out good (Monday) and you would expect him to continue to progress, but we’ll see.”
Having missed more than five weeks thanks to a degenerative knee condition, Sabathia must build his arm back up while making sure his knee is healthy. Girardi looks at his current rehab program the same as if he were starting out spring training, but Sabathia is treating the timeline differently.
“That’s what they’re saying, but I’ve been throwing the whole time and I feel pretty good,” Sabathia said. “Obviously

As well as John Ryan Murphy has played since being called up, the Yankees had to make to right move today. Francisco Cervelli was activated from the 60-day disabled list and optioned Murphy back to Triple-A Scranton, where he will be the everyday catcher for the RailRiders and continue to work. Cervelli had been getting some good work in at first base while on assignment...

Toronto Blue Jays 3 — New York Yankees 7
Brian McCann was a key contributor in this big divisional matchup.
After a scoreless first inning by Chase Whitley, the Yankees looked to score early against 10-game winner Mark Buehrle. Brett Gardner would lead off with a single and Derek Jeter would reach base on an error by third baseman Brett Lawrie...
The Yankees are finally home after a long road trip, and will now face the first place Toronto Blue Jays. The homestand marks the start of 15 straight games against AL East opponents, which sees the Yankees heading north of the border next week for a quick rematch with the Jays before coming home again. New York has a good chance to start off on the right foot, as ace Masahiro...
Is Masahiro Tanaka the best pitcher on the planet?
Those were the words CC Sabathia used to describe his teammate Tuesday afternoon, and after watching Tanaka handle the first-place Blue Jays later in the day, there’s no reason to argue otherwise.
Tanaka became the majors’ first 11-game winner, allowing one run over six innings to lead the Yankees to a 3-1 win over Toronto...
The Yankees will try to gain more ground on the first place Blue Jays tonight, as they take on Toronto from Yankee Stadium. Chase Whitley gets the ball for the Yanks, while Mark Buehrle will go for the Jays.

Tonight, the New York Yankees (35-33) begin a 15-game, AL East home stand, and their first opponent happens to be the division leading Toronto Blue Jays (41-30).
The Blue Jays will be sending rookie Marcus Stroman to the hill to face Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka. Here is all you need to know about the two righties.
Ever since Masahiro Tanaka suffered his first loss to the Chicago Cubs last month, there has been a question, albeit a small one, about whether his early success was at least partially due to the league’s unfamiliarity with him.As Tanaka bounced back from that loss with stellar start after stellar start, the rave reviews continued, but we were waiting for that second “second...
As part of the team’s sixth annual HOPE Week initiative (Helping Others Persevere & Excel), the New York Yankees helped to outfit a group of men in need. Derek Jeter, Alfonso Soriano, Jacoby Ellsbury, Hiroki Kuroda and Brian Roberts were on-hand to motivate the men and play the role of stylist, getting them fitted in their new DKNY suits. The fashion house and team sponsor...
Think of it this way: The Yankees brought up a middling, middle-innings reliever from Scranton - Chase Whitley - and he's pitched far better than Nuno.If Nuno doesn't pitch well Saturday, why not roll the dice again?
"An analysis of Major League Baseball fans conducted by two marketing professors at Emory University, Michael Lewis and Manish Tripathi, concluded that fans of the Philadelphia Phillies are the most demanding in the study’s “win sensitivity” list. The fan base least likely to forget about its team during the dark times: The New York Yankees."

Toronto Blue Jays 1 — New York Yankees 3
Masahiro Tanaka continues to be one of the best pitchers in the game.
In the first start for Masahiro Tanaka, he faced the Toronto Blue Jays. The first major league start for Tanaka started the worst way a pitcher could want it, a leadoff home run. Tonight was the second time he faced an opponent for the second...
The Toronto Blue Jays jumped out to first in the AL East behind an explosive offense. They have the second best record in the American League at 41-30, and are the only team in the AL East with a positive run differential. They are the next team on the New York Yankees schedule, the second place team in the division, 4.5 games behind the Blue Jays. Yankees tickets for the series...
Brian McCann was supposed to be key to an offensive resurgence in The Bronx this season.
Instead, he has been a major reason the Yankees’ lineup has been a disappointment so far.
But in Wednesday’s 7-3 win over the Blue Jays, he showed why the Yankees invested $85 million in him this offseason.
In the fourth inning, McCann gave the Yankees a 3-2 lead with a two-run home run...
